Procedure Foundryy c02

The experimental procedure involved: 1) preparing a sand mixture of silica sand, water and sodium silicate, 2) cleaning and filling a drag and cope box with the compacted sand mixture, 3) making holes in the top of the mould with a scriber to allow CO2 to flow, and 4) pouring molten metal into the assembled mould. Results and data analysis presented defects in the final products including rough surfaces, improper raising of the mould, and pin holes.

0 Experimental Procedure
1. The sand mixture was prepared by mixing the silica sand, water and sodium silicate
2. Before put the sand mixture into the drag and cope box, make sure the box was cleaned.
3. Next, the box was filled with the sand mixture and rammed it slowly with hands until
the box is fulfilled with the sand.
4. Steps 3 were used to fulfilled the small triangle mould.
5. By using the scriber, the holes were made on top of the sand because to make sure the
CO2 can flow through the mould.
6. The sprue, riser and pattern were withdrawn from the mould.
7. Then, the molten metal were poured with the mould that had been clamped together.
