SUBJECT : 18th NATIONAL PESO CONGRESS
The Public Employment Services Office, hereinafter referred to as PESO, is a non-fee
charging multi-employment service entity established and accredited pursuant to Republic Act
8759 or the PESO Act of 1999.
PESO works with local government units (LGUs) and a number of non-government
organizations (NGOs), as well as community-based organizations (CBOs) of the Department of
Labor and Employment (DOLE), and the DOLE Central Office to carry out full employment and
equality of employment opportunities for all. A Public Employment Service Office shall be
established in all capital town of provinces, key cities, and other strategic areas to strengthen and
expand the existing employment facilitation service machinery of the government, particularly at
the local levels.
This is in reference to the recently conducted 18th National PESO Congress last October
25-27, 2018 held at the SMX Convention Center, Lanang, Davao City with the theme “Trabaho,
Negosyo, Kabuhayan, at PESO Magkasangga Tungo sa Pagbabago at Pag-asenso”.
During the first day, we were welcomed by non-other than Davao City Mayor, Hon. Sara
Duterte-Carpio. The event further heightened when the Hon. Silvestre H. Bello III, DOLE
Secretary, introduced the Keynote Speaker.
The Keynote Message was delivered by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. He spoke about
the direction of PESO, as well as the importance of its role in nation-building and labor
employment.
Afterwards, a Plenary Presentation was given by Dominique Rubia – Tutay, Director of
Bureau of Local Employment, regarding the objectives of Jobsfit 2022 Labor Market.
An open forum soon commenced, followed by a dinner and fellowship night.
