HISTORY
1.) Discuss the causes and symptoms of the social cancer as depicted:
We cannot deny the fact that Filipinos suffered because of the abuse of people
and its government. Before, the government is more likely to controlled by priest
rather than government officials. We were put into slavery and exploitation of
resources at large. They all have the power but they abuse and make use of it to
control its people.
Corrupt officials
During those times, they were highly corrupt, cruel and incompetent officials.
They collect taxes that are not fair and some are accepting bribes from gambling
casinos.
Maria Clara and Sisa represent the enduring sacrifices of Filipino and the nation
itself. Sisa were represent as the suffering motherland for her grief and
frustration. She has been a self-sacrificing woman as she toils to feed her
families. But due to some oppression, Sisa went insane after her two sons were
accused as thieves and eventually were lost.
The false beliefs that they have in their religion and the word of God
which used them to corrupt the people. An analysis of character is
Capitan Tiago for he obtained the title of gobernadorcillo as the reason
he always supported a tax increase.

2.) The characters that Rizal portrayed in his two novels are very much
alive in our present society. Who are the counterparts of this character
and explain your answer?
“Anyone can give up, it’s the easiest thing to do. But to hold it together when
everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that’s true strength.” Dr. Jose
Rizal portrayed in his two novels as our national hero. Heroes keep on working
until they accomplish their goal to make a difference in others' lives and Rizal
was one of it. The characters that Rizal portrayed in his two novels are very
much alive in our present society is that people are doing their best to eradicate
corruption because basically, power and corruption were one of the issues during
their time. So I can say that in our present society, people really trying in the best
of their ability and I can associate with this character to President Duterte as he
would do anything to put a stop to fraud in government.
3.) How far has the Philippine educational system advanced the inherent
defects noted in the novels of Rizal?
Education is indeed the most important thing you can have. It is a tool
for us to succeed in life because it is a sequential progression of each
one of us. The current Philippine educational system has provided and
expanded opportunities for the useful knowledge and skills
development of Filipino and would have advanced the capabilities of
Filipinos in society. Education has been used as an instrument for
colonization from the very beginning. We have embraced the gift given
to us by Americans and have been performing its intended role.
Because colonizers before never intended to use education to the
minds of every Filipino but they intended us to be a good follower. The
current Philippine educational system must cure the inherent defects
that Rizal has noted in his two novels. The education system of the
Philippines has been highly influenced by the country’s colonial history. The
Philippine nation has an extensive and highly inclusive system of education,
including higher education. Today as they speak, the United States continues to
influence the Philippines education system.
4.) Based on the novel “ElFili” what are Rizal’s views on independence
and human freedom?

They say Filipinos are valiant freedom fighters. With that, we are willing to die for
our lost freedom because we believe that freedom is the essence of human
existence though freedom in our country is simply abused. In Rizal’s novel “El
FIlibusterismo”, he emphasized that like any Filipino, he desired our
country’s freedom. He wrote What is the use of independence if the
slaves of today will be the tyrants of tomorrow? And no doubt they will,
because whoever submits to tyranny loves it!". For him, it must be
brightened and utilized for which we are endowed to. He also depicted
violence as he made Simoun, Ibarra’s evil reincarnation that appeared
as a person of violence. He established his thoughts that only violence
can cure violence but sad to say, it failed. It indicates that Rizal was
not all about rebellion or revolution of independence. Rizal used pen
over a sword. As to him, freedom is worth dying for although our past
history is rife with the sweat and blood. He started a revolution against
the Spanish government to attain freedom and gain control of our
country.
5.) Explain the purposes and thoughts of Rizal for his two novels "El
Filibusterismo" and "Noli Me Tangere.
