5. Procedure

5.1 Instrument Used

The researchers utilized tools in gathering and collecting data through the

use of questionnaires or checklist and unstructured interview.

5.2 Validation

The draft of the questionnaire was presented to their thesis adviser for

suggestions and improvements and validated their questionnaires through floating

questions to the other BSED – English Majors in Bataan Peninsula State University

– Balanga Camnpus.

The researchers requested permission to the BSED Program Coordinator to

conduct the study to the BSED English Majors of the Bataan Peninsula State

University.

6. Statistical Treatment

In order to answer the specific questions presented in Chapter 1, data from

the respondents were gathered.

The data gathered were treated and interpreted by using the Frequency

Distribution, Percentage, and Weighted Mean.

7. Summary of the Findings

The succeeding section summarizes the prominent and significant finding

drawn by the researchers in order to provide answers to the researcher questions

posed at the beginning of the study.

Profile of the Respondents

1.1 Sex

Twenty of the respondents or 16.95 percent are male while 98 or 83.05

percent are female. Female BSEd-English major students outnumbered the male

BSEd-English major students. Female respondents outnumbered the male

respondents because teaching profession is more likely a feminine type of

profession.

1.2 Age

Twenty six or 22.33 percent of the respondents are 21-23 years old.

Seventy-eight or 66.110 percent of the respondents are 18-20 years old while 12 or

10.17 percent are 15-17 years old. It is also seen that there are only two or 1.70

percent of the respondent that has an age outside the bracket. The youngest

respondents are aged 15 – 17 while the oldest respondents are aged 21 – 23. The

mean age of all of the respondents was 19 years old which means that the studying

education program has more students with the age of 19.

1.3 Student’s Daily Allowance

The highest frequency of the respondents which was 91 or 77.12 percent has

a daily allowance of 101 pesos to 200 pesos. Next to it was 24 or 20.34 percent of

the respondents which has the daily allowance of 101 pesos and below. The least

frequency of respondents was 3 or 2.54 percent which marked that they have their

daily allowance of 201 pesos and above.

1.4 Spoken Language

The highest frequency of the respondents which was 60 or 50.85 percent

speaks Filipino and English only while the lowest frequency which is 58 or 49.15

Conclusions

In the light of this study, the following conclusions were drawn.

1. It could be concluded that there are many female respondents than male

respondents because of the fact that teaching profession is more likely for females.

Many are aged 19 and have a good economic stability. The language of the

respondents has been affected by its geographical settings.

2. It could be concluded that Mastery of the language and Student’s Evaluation

which ranks the highest don’t need intervention but only maintenance of what is the

teacher doing to help the students in preparing them of becoming a teacher.

Instructional materials used and Teaching Strategies are the variables that need

intervention to improve the performance of the respondents in the field of teaching.

3. Based from the enhancement suggestions, it is still the utilization of the

cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains in considering the making of test

items by which the researchers concluded that it is important for the teacher to

consider the three domains in constructing a test because learners are diversely

different in answering a test.

Recommendations

1. It is recommended for the institution to have a career talk near the campus to

expose the education course is beneficial not only for the females but also for the

males. For the parents, they should be aware on the expenses of the respondents in

their daily living inside the school. The language affects the communication, it

could be recommended to the respondents to be exposed in the other language by

means of interaction.

2. The researchers recommend for the institution to focus on the teachers

teaching professional education specifically “Teaching Strategies” and “Preparation

of Instructional Material” for the respondents to improve in utilizing strategies and

instructional materials in teaching. For the teachers, they should study further about

the modern strategies that they can impart to their students. For the respondents,

they should adapt these new strategies and instructional materials in teaching.

3. It could be recommended for the institution to provide workshops and

seminars that the respondents could attend regarding the improvement of their skills

in using the English language. For the teachers, they should be fully equipped and

fluent in using English language as the teaching medium so that they can impart the

knowledge and skills to their students.

4. For further study.

4.1 Assessment of the Difficulties of the English major students in using English as

the teaching medium.

4.1 Problems encountered by the English major students in using English as the
