HDFC Bank's recruitment and selection practices aim to hire employees that are the best fit for the company culture. The bank uses both internal and external sources for recruitment, including employee referrals, campus recruitment, and job advertisements. The selection process involves application screening, interviews to assess fit, reference and background checks. Managers are satisfied with the current practices, though some improvements could be made, such as providing candidates with internship opportunities before hiring.

About the industry

As per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), India’s banking sector is sufficiently
capitalised and well-regulated. The financial and economic conditions in the
country are far superior to any other country in the world. Credit, market and
liquidity risk studies suggest that Indian banks are generally resilient and have
withstood the global downturn well.
Indian banking industry has recently witnessed the roll out of innovative banking
models like payments and small finance banks. The central bank granted in-
principle approval to 11 payments banks and 10 small finance banks in FY 2015-
16. RBI’s new measures may go a long way in helping the restructuring of the
domestic banking industry.

Recruitment & Selection - Introduction

Recruitment:
The recruitment process includes analyzing the requirements of a job, attracting
employees to that job, screening and selecting applicants, hiring, and integrating
the new employee into the organization.

Selection:

Finding the interested candidates who have submitted their profiles for a
particular job is the process of recruitment, and choosing the best and most
suitable candidates among them is the process of selection. It results in
elimination of unsuitable candidates.

Literature Review
A bad credit history would not only reduce chances of getting a loan but also a
job in a bank. Some leading private and foreign banks in the country have started
checking scores of credit information companies such as Credit Information
Bureau Ltd (Cibil) as part of their pre-employment screening process.(Nupur
Anand & M Saraswathy,January 2015). The concept of innovative HRM evolved
in the early 1900s with an increased emphasis on a proactive, integrative and
value-driven approach to human resource management (Butler et al. 1991;
Schuler 1992). Best HRM practices are aimed to improve the overall performance
of employees within the organization which ultimately results in an increased
organizational performance through job satisfaction.(Delaney and Huselid
,1996).
