Lesson: What is her job?

Type of lesson : Acquisition of knowledge; teaching vocabulary and grammar structures.

Skills : Speaking, listening, writing, reading
Learning : to give furher practice in using the previously learned vocabulary(i.e.
objectives: Jobs)
to encourage communication skills
to introduce new vocabulary(days of the week)
to have fun with English
to consolidate group cohesion through pair/group work

Lesson Aims :By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:
- use appropriately vocabulary to speak about professions
- use correctly the Present simple, 3rd person singular,affirmative and negative,in
questions and answers, to speak about a weekly programme
- use the new vocabulary in written and oral tasks, in pairs/group
- participate actively in a dialogue about different activities a character does in a
week

Teaching aids: textbook (Way ahead 2),Way ahead cd, blackboard, handouts, computer,
speakers, OHD, calendar,word cards, Genki English-cd 11,coloured pencils

Assessment: oral, homework, systematic observation

1. Stage: Warm-up:

Activity: Greetings, introductory conversation
Setting the right admosphere

2. Reinforcement of the previous lesson/checking homework:


Time: 5′
Activity:Find your pair- Ps are separated into two groups- 12 each- the first group
chooses a job riddle and has to find the pair, in fact the answer for his riddle, in the other
group. This way they check their homework too, because the riddles were made by them
as a homework.

3. Presentation of the new lesson:


Time: 10′
Activity: T introduces the new topic with a calendar and word cards for each day of the
week and a song ”Days of the week”-Hmmm, from Genki English, cd 11

4. Practice:
Time: 5′
Activity: Colour the day- T asks Ps some questions and they have to colour those days
accordingly, as an answer, on their notebooks.

5. Listening activity:
Time: 5′
Activity: Ex.2/p.43(in the textbook): Ps listen to an interview, they put a tick or a cross in
a grid in order to identify the days when a waiter, a nurse or a shopkeeper goes to work.

6. Speaking activity(pair work):


Time: 5′
Activity: Ex 3/p.43: Ps ask and answer questions using the information on the grid, in
pairs. T monitors and helps where and if necessary.

7. Semi-controlled activity: game


Time: 10′
Activity: Ps have to create a character to represent themselves,T reads the rules from the
OHP. Using a dice they make choises about their gender, name, job, clothes and hobbies.
These things have to be written down on a worksheet and then, in groups of 4, they
present it to their classmates,one at a time

8. Homework assignment and evaluation:

Activity:Ps have to write a weekly programme for their character. T models by reading a
short description of Mike′s routine.T praises all students for their participation during the
entire lesson.
