1. System overview
This system collects data from the printing press and presents this as information on a screen to assist the
operator.
This operating manual has been produced to supply the operator with the minimum amount of information
needed to operate this system.
With the steady advancement to computer systems, the appearance, configuration and peripherals may be
changed. As a result, specifications may be changed without notice to improve system performance.
Scope of guarantee
Komori guarantees that this system has been produced by Komori according to specifications, and is free from
manufacturing defects. If the customer claims that there are defects, then Komori shall inspect the system. If it is
decided that Komori is responsible for the defect, based on the terms of the sales agreement, Komori shall repair
or replace the system.
Komori shall not be responsible for any accidents or losses that may occur if the system is used for any purpose
other than that described above.
Komori shall not be responsible for any accidents or losses that may occur if, contrary to the operating
instructions and guidance in this operating manual, the customer misuses or operates this system incorrectly.
Komori shall not be responsible for any accidents or losses that may occur if the customer independently
modifies or alters this system.
Komori shall not be responsible for any accidents or losses arising from the use of products (such as other
manufacturer’s peripherals, electrical devices, components, printing materials, etc.) other than those
manufactured by Komori or products of other companies that Komori has added to the system.

Safety Precautions
Safety Precautions
To ensure safe operation, be sure to read and understand all safety matters before starting up this system.
This system has two types of safety features: one type to maintain operator safety, and another to maintain the func-
tions of the system.
Although this system has been manufactured with careful consideration to safety, please maintain greater safety by
checking all the places where safety devices are located before starting up this system.
1. Warning labels
Warning labels have been stuck to notify operators of the existence of high-voltage power supplies, revolving and
moving parts in this system and on the printing press. When operating this system, pay careful attention to
places that bear these warning labels.
2. Safe clothing
1) Immediately wipe up any oil or water on the floor or equipment to eliminate slipping hazards. Maintain a
clean working environment at all times.
2) Do not hang or sit things on the operation stand, since this will endanger the operator and run the risk of
damaging the system.
3) Do not place things on the system or drop cigarette embers, etc. on to it. Do not use pens or other tools to
push the keys since this may cause mis-operation or damage the system.
5. Malfunctions
If the system malfunctions, immediately stop using it. Remove the cause of the malfunction to allow the system
to operate normally again. Do not use the system again until normal operation is restored. If normal operation is
not restored, then immediately contact your Komori service manager.
Maintenance points
Maintenance points
Be sure to carry out periodic inspections to ensure the safety and performance of the system. Any malfunctions
in the system, including the safety devices, may endanger the operator and run the risk of damaging the system.
Be sure to conduct regular inspections of consumed materials and consumed components, the lubricating oils
used in the printing press, and any other categories that need to be replaced periodically.
If replacement is required, do it quickly and resume normal operation. If these replacements are not carried out,
equipment damage will occur.
1. System maintenance
1) Never remove the front or rear panels of the equipment since this may result in electrocution or equipment
malfunction.
2) Before cleaning the air vents at the back of the equipment, turn off the power source. Never clean while the
power is turned on.
3) Do not insert foreign objects or fingers into the air vents at the back of the equipment.
4) Be careful of the lower gap and casters when moving the equipment.
2) Do not store floppy disks in places that are dusty, dirty, hot, humid or exposed to direct sunlight.
3) Do not insert anything other than a floppy disk into the floppy disk drive.
4) Take care not to insert the floppy disk the wrong way round.
5) The floppy disk drive lamp will light when the disk drive is operating. Never remove a floppy disk from the
floppy disk drive while the disk drive lamp is on.
* Insert the floppy disk horizontally into the drive. If the floppy disk is not horizontal, a load/write error may result.
1) The LCD touch panel is made of glass; strong impacts may break it.
2) If the LCD touch panel is dirty, clean it by lightly wiping it with a soft, dry cloth or a soft cloth that contains a
little ethanol.
CAUTION
Never apply water, neutral detergents, commercial glass cleaners or organic solvents directly to the
touch panel, as this may cause malfunction.
Note that malfunctions caused in this manner are not covered by the warranty.
3) The LCD touch panel should always be operated by finger touch. Do not use hard or sharp objects to
operate the panel.
4) For further details, please read the LCD touch panel operating manual supplied.
5) Try not to display a fixed pattern on the screen for an extended length of time. Doing so may allow a
long-term residual image to form on the screen.
6) See the operating manual included with the touch panel monitor for other detailed information.
4. Maintenance procedures
1) Floppy disk drives should be cleaned with a commercially available cleaning disk once a month.
2) Before starting work, remove any dirt from the LCD touch panel by lightly wiping it with a soft, dry cloth or a
soft cloth that contains a little ethanol.
CAUTION
Never apply water, neutral detergents, commercial glass cleaners or organic solvents directly to the
touch panel, as this may cause malfunction.
Note that malfunctions caused in this manner are not covered by the warranty.
3) Turn off the main unit (or equipment) power before wiping the touch panel. Failure to do so could result in
malfunctions.

The jobs in the [Job History] are stored in a folder for each project.
9 Expand Folder History
Jobs with the same project name are stored in the same folder.*
* Folders are created automatically, but since upper and lower case letters are distinguished, the new folder names
must be registered. (Refer to page 5-19.)
The following characters cannot be used in folder names: [\], [/], [:], [,], [;], [*], [?], [”], [<], [>], [|], [.], and [space].
(Single-byte characters; note that spaces include two-byte characters.)
1) If the job registrations has already been started, it is not possible to expand the job folder under [Details]. Wait
until the job registration is complete before performing this operation.
2) When the job folder under [Details] is expanded, all jobs under [Details] are cleared and moved to folders for
each project under [History].
3) When you press [Expand Folder], a folder for each project is created under [History].
4) The storage folder names are the same as the project names. However, if a project name contains a character
that cannot be used in a folder name, that character will be converted to “_” (understrike), and a message
appears.
The following characters cannot be used in folder names: [\], [/], [:], [,], [;], [*], [?], [”], [<], [>], [|], [.], and [space].
(Single-byte characters; note that spaces include
two-byte characters.)
5) Due to overlaps between upper and lower case characters, or if the project name contains characters that
cannot be used in folder names, the resulting folder name may be the same as a folder name that is already in
use.
In that case, the following message appears, requesting you to enter a new folder name.
Connecting to a network
If you connect to a network, make the following settings.
However, since PQC-IV/PQC-S/PQC-U models can only display single-byte characters, if data for a job with a
name entered in Japanese in KMS is sent to the PQC, the job name will be converted to “0”. (If the name is all in
Japanese, it is converted to a date.)
If you want to use Japanese names, we recommend that you enter a management code with the project name in
Japanese and the job name in single-byte characters.
PQC-I/PQC-III and older PQC models can only display job names consisting of digits. For those models, all other
characters will be converted to “0” when data is transmitted. (If all characters are converted to “0”, the data will be
converted to a date.)
If a network is used between the PCC and KMS, the path is set to the PCC preset data export folder.
Reprint data can also be stored on some other device than a FD or in KMS (e.g. an MO disk or a network drive).
If the customer wants to manage reprint data over the network, the designated path can be registered.
* If you are not connected to a network, or if you are connected to a K-Station, please use the initial setting.
< Setup examples: When loading preset data created with the PCC over the network >
In this example, we will change the value of No. 7: Job Import Origin among the setup items (the initial setting
is “A:\”). By changing this setting, you can freely select the folder from which to load preset data that have been
created with the PCC.
(1) Entering the path directly (2) Selecting a folder in the “Browse for Folder” dialog
3) Change the setting for No. 15: Color Information File Folder.
Set the PCC root path in the same way as in step 2).
Basic setup
The following settings dramatically reduce the number of necessary operations for operators who use KMS for the
first time.
As you keep using the system, you can adjust these settings to suit your own needs.
CAUTION
If many jobs are registered at the same time in the job list, the efficiency may decrease and it may take
longer to display information on the screen and to perform various operations. Data for finished jobs will be
kept in the job history, so we recommend that you delete them from the job list.
When you press the [Load] button, the “Import preset data” dialog appears.
If you want to load PCC data, select the [Import preset data] button.
* If you want to load data from the K-Station, select the [Load schedule data] button.
* If a message should appear, refer to the countermeasures below.
Select the preset data you want to load from among the project names and job names in the displayed list. When
you press the [OK] button, the selected data are linked with the job.

(displayed) preset data to the PQC by pressing the [Transfer Preset Data] button.
Note
When connected to a Komori K-Station, the operations described under 1 above are performed at the K-Station.
In this case, select the job to be executed, and then press the [Job Start] button as described in step 3) above to send the preset
data created beforehand at the K-Station to the PQC.
Depending on the KMS network settings, this icon may appear when a new job is sent from the K-Station
while the [Job] screen is displayed on the KMS monitor.
When the job list is updated (for example by sorting it), the new job is added to the list and this icon
disappears.
2) Press the [No.] button for the loaded job and confirm the data.
3) When you press the [Job Start] button, the preset data are transferred to the PQC.
