Question 1:
The simply supported beam shown in Figure 1 carries two uniformly distributed loads and a
point load.
1) Calculate the reactions at B and C.
2) Draw the shear force and bending moment diagrams, clearly indicating the magnitude and
sign of all actions at A, B and C.

Question 9:
The three blocks have weights of WA=60 kg, WB=15 kg and WC=50 kg. Determine the smallest
horizontal force P that must be applied to block C in order to move this block. The coefficient of
static friction between the blocks is 0.3 and between the floor and each block is 0.5.
