SAP Activate Methodology

The SAP Activate methodology provides frameworks for implementing SAP cloud and on-premise solutions. For cloud solutions, it follows the four step PERD process of prepare, explore, realize, and deploy. For on-premise solutions, it follows the five step PERDR process of prepare, explore, realize, deploy, and run. The phases involve initial planning, fit/gap analysis, incremental development and testing, production setup, and post go-live support. The methodology aims to efficiently and effectively implement SAP solutions.

SAP Activate Methodology

There are two variants of ACTIVATE methodology

1. SAP Activate methodology for cloud solutions: Activate Methodology for Cloud provides an
implementation framework to support subscription based software where the system
installation and management occur outside of the project (SaaS). Self explanatory four steps
(PERD) are:
2. SAP Activate methodology for on-premise solutions: The SAP Activate methodology for on-
premise solutions is designed to support project teams in the new implementation of SAP
solutions in on-premise deployment model. Self explanatory five steps (PERDR) are:

Different phases are

1. Prepare: Initial planning and preparation for the project. In this phase the project is started, plans
are finalized, project team is assigned, and work is under way to start the project optimally.
2. Explore: Perform a fit/gap analysis to validate the solution functionality included in the project
scope and to confirm that the business requirements can be satisfied. Identified gaps and
configuration values are added to the backlog for use in the next phase.
3. Realize: Use a series of iterations to incrementally build and test an integrated business and
system environment that is based on the business scenarios and process requirements identified
in the previous phase. During this phase, data is loaded, adoption activities occur,
and operations are planned.
4. Deploy: Set up the production system, confirm customer organization readiness, and switch
business operations to the new system.
5. Run: Run the new system; apply SAP operations standards to optimize system operation.

ASAP Methodology:

1. Project Preparation: initiate retrieval of information and resources. Building qualified and
capable project team.
2. Blueprint Preparation: Business requirement gathering and legal document preparation.
3. Realization: functional consultant do SAP base line configuration and technical consultant do
development of programs, interfaces etc.
4. Final Preparation: testing, cutover, quality check
