Job Burnout

Job burnout is a state of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion caused by long-term involvement in emotionally demanding situations. It is characterized by feelings of energy depletion or exhaustion, increased mental distance from one's job, or feelings of negativism or cynicism related to one's job. Burnout can occur among individuals who work in jobs requiring direct involvement with people, such as teachers, nurses, social workers, and therapists. It is the result of chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed.
