A. Suppose that a community tax law reads as follows:

Less than or equal to Ᵽ120,000 Ᵽ0
More than P120,000 but not over Ᵽ240,000 1% of income over Ᵽ120,000
Over Ᵽ240,000 5% of income over Ᵽ120,000

1) Represent the income tax payment schedule using a piecewise defined function.

2) What is the community tax due given an annual gross earnings of

a.) Ᵽ48,340 b.) Ᵽ435,000

3) If the community tax due is Ᵽ400.00, what is the annual gross earning?

B. Cozy Resort charges a group for its swimming pool services based on the group’s number of members. For a group
with 5 or less members, the resort charges Ᵽ200 pesos per person. However, it gives discounts for larger groups. For
groups with 6 to 10 members, the charge is only Ᵽ180 per person and for groups with more than 10 members, they
just need to pay a base of Ᵽ1,000 plus Ᵽ70 per person.
1) Write a piecewise function to represent this situation.

2) How much will it cost the group if they have 8 members?

3) How much will it cost the group if they have 20 members?
