A group went into a vector space

And it said to the rep running the place,


"Hey! (Bum bum bum) Are you irreducible?”
The rep said "No, I'm just a direct sum,
But my isotypic decomposition’s fun, you should come.
I’ve got tons of subreps; wanna try?"
The group said, "Goodbye!"

Then it quotiented away


(Quotient quotient)
'Til the very next day
(Bum bum bum bum ba-bada-dum)

When the group went into the vector space


And it said to the rep running the place,
"Hey! (Bum bum bum) Are you irreducible?"
The rep said, "No, like I said before,
The square of the dimension here is larger than your order!
Care to give it a shot?"
The group said, "I think not.”

Then it quotiented away.


(Quotient quotient)
Then it quotiented away.
(Po-shen potion)
Then it quotiented away
(Quotient quotient)
'Til the very next day.
(Bum bum bum bum ba-ba-dum)

When the group went into the vector space,


And it said to the rep, taking the trace,
"Hey! (Bum bum bum) Are you irreducible?"
The trace said, "THAT'S IT! If you don't shut up,
I'll semi-direct product you to a coffee cup!
So don't keep talking all day!"
"Whatever you say!"

Then it quotiented away


(Quotient quotient)
Then it quotiented away
(quotient quotient quotient)
Then it quotiented away
(quotient quotient)
'Til the very next day
(Bum bum bum bum ba-ba-dum)

When the group went into the vector space,


And it said to the trace running the place,
"Hey! (Bum bum bum) got any coffee cups?"
"What"
"Got any coffee cups?"
"No... Why would I... oh."
"Then one more question for you...
...are you irreducible?
(Bum bum bum, bum bum bum)

And the rep just stopped.


Its character froze.
Its subreps inverted,
And its dual arose!
It said
Come on group, I’ll do it for you
I’ll add up the norms
So you won’t have to ask me again.

So they went to the dual vector space


Where the functionals induced an inner product space
Now there was a norm and the group said,
Hmm… no thanks. But you know what sounds good?
It would make my day.
Do you think this space
Do you think this space
Do you think this space satisfies Aaron’s desiderata face?

Then it quotiented away.

The char said "No, I'm just a simple vector.
What else can I say? Ain't got no projector.
Adding norms is hard; wanna try?"
The group said "Goodbye!"

When the group went into the vector space


And it said to the trace running the place,
"Hey! (Bum bum bum) Are you normal?"
The trace said, "No, like I said previously,
We first need a norm, add it carefully.
Care to give it a shot?"
The group said, "I think not"

When the group went into the vector space,


And it said to the trace running the place,
"Hey! (bum bum bum) Are you normal?"
The trace said, "Look, this is getting dumb,
Why don't you induce one by directing a sum?
Why not give it a go?"
The group said, "How about, no."

Then it quotiented away

Then it quotiented away.
(Quotient lotion motion)
Then it quotiented away
(Quotient notion)
'Til the very next day.
(Bum bum bum bum ba-ba-dum)

When the group went into the vector space,


And it said to the rep, running the place,
"Hey! (Bum bum bum) Are you normal?"
The trace said, "THAT'S IT! If you don't shut up,
I'll semi-direct product you to a coffee cup!
