Section 1: Turning ON the system.


1. Turning ON the computer.

a. Press the power key to turn on the laptop.

b. It will then open a window for USER ID and PASSWORD. Enter the following to
details to LOGIN to the system.

Section 2: Starting ALIEN Gateway software.


1. Turn on the Alien software.

a. Double click the Alien RFID Gateway icon shown below.

b. It will then open the ALIEN home page.

c. After selecting either Tag Grid or Tag Programmer the following window will pop
up where we select Login as alien-password.

Section 3: Lock/Unlock Tag.

1. Positioning the Tag.


a. Place the Tag correctly within the range of antenna and make sure it is being read
properly.

2. Starting the Tag Programmer.


a. Click on the Tag Programmer tab on the alien home page.

b. This will open the following window.

3. Selecting the area of operation.

a. Using the options available in the dropdown list select the function you want to Lock
or Unlock.

4. Lock/Unlock Tag.
a. Using the options available in the dropdown list select the operation you want to
perform i.e. Lock Tag or Unlock Tag. Then hit the Lock/Unlock button.

Section 4: Changing EPC.

1. Unlocking EPC.

a. Unlock the EPC using the procedure descried in Section 1.


b. It will then display a message saying that the EPC has been unlocked.

2. Changing EPC.

a. Type the new EPC in the space provided and hit ENTER key.

Section 5: Changing User data.

1. Unlicking User data.


a. Unlock the User using the procedure descried in Section 1.

b. Type the User data in the space provided and hit ENTER key.

Section 6: Changing Tag image.

1. Starting the Alien Gateway software.


a. Launch the Alien Gateway software using the procedure described in Section 1.

2. Opening Grid window.

a. On the Alien home screen select Tag Grid.

b. This will open a window where it shows all Tags within the range of antina.

3. Changing Tag Image.

a. Right click on the Tag of which you want to change the image.

b. Select the image you want to assign. It will be assigned as follows.

Section 7: Save and Import Tag data.

1. Opening Tag Grid view.


a. Launch the Alien Gateway software using the procedure described in Section 1.

b. Opening Grid window: On the Alien home screen select Tag Grid

c. This will open the following window. Where it shows all Tags within range.

2. Saving Tag Data.

a. Right click on the Tag and select Save Data.

b. This will save the Tag data at the desired location in a .txt file format.

Section 8: Importing tag data in MS Excel.

1. Starting MS Excel.
a. Click on the Start button on the desktop and then select Microsoft Excel.

2. Importing saved data.


a. To import the saved Tag data in MS Excel, open MS Excel the go to File and select
Import option.

b. Select data file type as Text file.

c. Select the .txt file you want to import and hit Get Data.

3. Text import wizard.

a. Text import wizard – Step 1: The following window will pop up click on NEXT.

b. Text import wizard – Step 2: The following window will pop up select COMMA as
delimiter.

c. Text import wizard – Step 3: The following window will pop up click on FINISH.

d. Then we need to select the cell where we need to enter the data and hit OK. In this
case it is cell A1

e. This will import all Tag data in a tabular format. Note: This imports Tag EPC and the
number of times the Tag has been read.
