Everyone knows that this the age of computer and vast majority of people are using computer.
Development of science and technology has direct effect on our daily life as well as in our social life.
Computer technology has made communication possible from one part of the world in other in seconds.
They can see the transactions in one part of the world while staying in the other part. Computer
development is one of the greatest scientific achievements of the 20th century.Computers are used in
various fields as well as in teaching and learning. With the increase in computer usage,comes new
software that attracts people’s attention even more.Adults,adolescents and even children find
themselves losing track of time when they sit down and play on the computer for the half an hour and
suddenly realize that thirty minutes has turned minutes has turned into a couple of hours.As changes
occurs in technology,we must also contemplate the effect these changes will have on individuals.We
must realize that individuals are vulnerable to the virtual world and that they can get lost.Our need for a
personal philosophy of self-knowledge has never been greater as we struggle to make meaning from
our lives on the screen.

The computer can serve many purposes for some major computer application fields such as an
aid to management,where the computer can also be used as a a management tool to assist in solving
business problems of any level of complicatedness as many of today;s successful small companies would
not exist with computer technology.Each year, hundreds of thousands of individuals launch the business
based at their homes or small office locations.They depend on computer companies.These tools allows
business owners to handle tasks such as accounting,inventory management,marketing,payroll and many
others.Businesses are also using the networking of computers, where a number of computers are
connected together to share the data and information.Use of email and the internet has changed the
ways of being used business.

Nowadays, computers are used to design the product, ship and process control in the
industries.As a result, small businesses and industries become most self sufficient,competitive and
reduce their operating and overhead cost..Next,computers are used for banking in the branches of
banks around the world.Bank branches are equipped with terminals giving them an online accounting
facility and enabling them to information as such things as current balances,deposits,overdrafts and
interest changes.Any individual can use the ATM services twenty-four hours of the day in order to
deposit and withdraw cash.When different branches of bank are connected through the computer
networks, then the inter branch transactions can be done by the computers without any delay. The
computer is even used in industrial application where in industry,production may be
planned,coordinated and controlled with the aid and technical assistance of a computer.Besides
that,the computer is used to help engineering design by helping in calculating all the parts of a proposed
design are in satisfactory and also assist in designing.The architects and engineers are extensively used
computer in designing and drawing.Computers can create objects that can be viewed from all the three
dimesnsions.By using the techniques like virtual reality(VR),architects can explore houses that have been
but haven’t been built yet.Automobile,aircraft, aerospace and ship designers use computer aided
designing(CAD) technique in the design of various types of vehicles.

The manufacturing factories are using computerized robot to perform risky

jobs.Besides,computer aided manufacturing can be used in designing and planning the product in it’s
final form.Additionally,with help of computers,for the use meteorology,data is recorded at different
levels of atmosphere at different places,using remote sensors carried on a satellite.Similarly,when it
comes to it’s air travel system,small computers are installed as a part of the plane’s equipment so that
the computer system in the airplane can be monitored by the computers in the control towers at the
airport or airbase through the usage of radars both in the airplane and the control tower.As well as it
can be in the air travel system,computers are also heavily used to assist in road traffic control by
assisting the control of the flow in road traffic lights in the road traffic.

In the telephone system,there are computerized telephones that exchange to handle an ever
increasing volume of calls efficiently and of course,computers are very widely in the medical field in
hospitals to perform medical task such as maintaining and stabilizing drugs,monitoring patients in
hospital wards,surgical operations,x-rays,CT scans,Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI),diagnostic
databases and medical research.In addition,nowadays,mostly all schools,colleges and universities are
giving more emphasis to computer and ICT education including it in their curriculum.In these institutions
in addition to givingsolely computer education,computers have become essential for teaching other
subjects as well.Classrooms and libraries are efficiently utilizing computers to make the education much
more interesting.Unlike recorded television shows,computer aided education and computer based
training packages are making learning much more interactive.
 The wide spread adoption of computers has lots of effects on society. Computers and the
Internet have been responsible for many positive changes that have taken place within society. The
increase in computer usage has made life easier for individuals in a wide range of activities that include:
schools, the work place and even at home.With the invention of the computer and the internet,the
possibilities have became endless.Society is changing by leaps and bounds and bounds,with no chance
of a stopping point in the near future. All this change is dealing with computers and the effects that it
will have on the way we live tomorrow.Computers have both positive and negative impact on society.

First of all,the positive impact of computer on society has impacted the way that we shop and
make purchases.In some certain ways this change is positive,since the rise of online retailers such as
Amazon,ebay and Alibaba has given us greater choice as consumers over where we buy our products.It
also means that we can make purchases without having to leave our residential homes.However,the
ability to do our shopping online has affected physical stores by increasing the competition between
companies.

Next,computers have also helped us changed the way we communicate with each other.The rise
of email and social media networks.Social media has made it easier than ever for people to stay in
touch with family and friends and to meet new people.Moreover,access to these services id free,making
online communication afar much more affordable and cheaper alternative to sending letters or making
phone calls.

Computers have helped to make an individual to become more competent to take decisions due
to the computer because all information required to take the decision is provided by the computer on
time.As a result,any individuals or institutions gets success very fast.In a likely manner,an individual
working at the managerial level becomes less dependent on low level staffs like clerks and
accountants.Their accessibility to the information increases tremendously.This improves their working
patters and efficiency,which benefit the organization and ultimately affects the society positively.

Even in the life of a common individual,an individual gets benefited with computer
technology.When airports,hospitals,banks,departmental stores have been computerized,people get
quick service due to the computerized system.Because of such benefits,computers have created new
fields of employment.These employments are in the field of designing,manufacturing,teaching,business
and so much more.
 In contrast, even though computer have contributed a a lot of positive effects on
society,it has also contributed to affect society in a negative manner too.Since nowadays most of the
work that are done in a company or in an organization are mostly done on a computer and then most of
the work data are saved in the computer.But,if,due to any reasons,that the data stored is lost,the
employee who is responsible for handling the computer shall have to tolerate a lot because the person
will be the first one to be seeked upon,first to be found and also first to be pointed the finger at,as the
employee will be the first one to be in trouble which leads them to be the first one face their
employers..This typically happens only when the person never saved the data or if the electrical supply
that supplies power to the computer has been cut off.On the other hand,there is even a much more
worse thing than an employee getting for losing data.Due to the computerization in the work system,
workload for the employees reduces many times.But,as a result,many companies or organizations may
require to remove and replace of their employees unfortunately.Therefore,it has produce the
dissatisfaction and lack of job security among the employees.Due to this,employees do not corporate
the organization.As a result,the output can be quite devastating.

Then,people have fear that younger generation that are growing may lose their abilities of
common sense like basic arithmetical and numerical abilities due their young vulnerable minds being
totally being dependant on computers.Similarly,the younger generation would rather communicate
through computer,which seems much more easier,rather than actually getting themselves outside of
their houses to socialize so that they can make friends or find true love in the best method,the old
fashioned way.As a result,they will not have true friends to stick with them always and they may not get
right the person for love.So in another way to say it,for the ones that sit too long on the computer for
far too long will drift away and lose reality as far as they lose out on social activities and learning social
skills.Then,we have to worry about the younger generation being in contact with someone online
especially if that someone is an unknown person as it might end up mistrustbecause they had never had
never met that person in real life.

Moreover,as a result computerization in society,introduction of new technology will keep being

introduced from time by time.So,basically,technology is moving faster by time and as a result,it will cost
a lot to update the computer systems.The technology of computer keeps upgrading to latest technology
by the contemporary time is because of security reasons.
