BIG-IP LTM LAB TOPICS

Lab 1 - BIG-IP System Setup Labs

• Configure the Management Port

• Activate the BIG-IP System and Configure the Network.

• Test Administrative Access

• Archive the Configuration

Lab 2 - Virtual Servers and Pools Lab

• Configure load balancing pools

• Configure virtual servers and associate them with a pool

• Verify traffic flow through the BIG-IP system using statistics

Lab 3 - Configuring SNAT Auto Map on a Virtual Server

• Identify which IP addresses will be used for SNAT Auto Map

• Configure virtual servers and associate them with a SNAT Auto Map

• Describe the source translation used by the BIG-IP system when SNAT Auto Map is configured.

• Describe the impact of SNAT on application functionality and some options for mitigation.

Lab 4 - Monitoring Application Health

• Assign health monitors to node and pool members

• Create Custom Monitors

Lab 5 - Configuring FTP Virtual Server

• Configure an FTP pool and Virtual server.

• Test and Troubleshoot access.

Lab 6 - Configuring Persistence

• Configure a source address affinity persistence profile, assign it to a virtual server, verify
functionality, and observe changes in traffic behavior.

• Configure a cookie persistence profile, assign it to a virtual server, verify functionality and
observe changes in traffic beahviour.
Lab 7 - Implement SSL Offload and SSL Re-Encryption

• Configure a virtual server that will offload SSL from back-end servers onto the BIG-IP system.

• Leverage SSL termination a virtual server to permit cookie persistence.

• Configure a virtual server for SSL re-encryption and cookie persistence.

• See the effect of object state on persistence.

Lab 8 - Implement Priority Group Activation

• Configure priority group activation on a pool and view load balancing behavior with statistics.

• Compare the effects of a member-based ratio and node-based ratio load balancing algorithm.

• Force a connection limit condition to cause a lower priority group of members to be temporarily
activated.

Lab 9 - Test Different Virtual Server Behavior

• Create a network forwarding virtual server, reject forwarding virtual server, and a host
forwarding virtual server for a specific VLAN.

Lab 10 - High Availability

• Setup a redundant pair of BIG-IP systems

• Perform Initial synchronization (ConfigSync)

• Identify which device is in active mode and which is in standby.

• Change modes from active to standby.

Lab 11 – Customizing application delivery with iRules

• Load balance intelligent SNAT, Insert XFF header and custom 404 Response via an iRule.

• Remove unwanted headers from HTTP Response via an iRule.

• Load balance based on Payload Contents – HTTP and TCP.

Lab 12 - Customizing application delivery with Local Traffic Policy

• Load balance intelligent SNAT, Insert XFF header and custom 404 Response via Local Traffic
Policy

• Remove unwanted headers from HTTP Response via Local Traffic Policy

• Load balance based on Payload Contents – HTTP and TCP.
