CERTIFICATION

ESTABLISHMENT of JAKIM
In line with the country’s steadfast Islamic development
and progress Malaysian Cabinet Meeting in
September 1996 decided to established the
Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM)
to take over the role of BAHEIS started on 1st January
1997.

This secretariat was later expanded to become the

Religious Division, Prime Minister’s Department on 1st
February 1974, which was later upgraded to become the
Islamic Affairs Division (BAHEIS) on 21st May 1985.

17th Oktober 1968, the Malayan Council of

Rulers (Majlis Raja-Raja) decided that there
was a need for a body that could mobilise the
development and progress of Muslims in
Malaysia. In realising the fact, a secretariat for
the National Council of Islamic Affairs of
Malaysia was formed on 1st July, 1969.
 HISTORY OF MALAYSIAN HALAL CERTIFICATION
On 17th November 2005, the Public
Service Department of Malaysia
approved a total of 165 positions
from different schemes, grades and
designations to create the newly
named Halal Hub Division.

On 1st September 2002, the government

Malaysian Cabinet decided that all halal certification activities will be
decided to return back conducted by JAKIM's Food and Islamic

In the year 1974, the Research Center of the

Islamic Affairs Division of the Prime Ministers
