Health assessments for the immigrants to the US are conducted by the International
Organization for Migration (IOM) at the Migration Health Assessment Center.
Working hours: 08:00 – 17:00, Monday through Friday, except national holidays.

Baluwatar-4 (next to the main IOM office).
1. Appointment letter
2. Passport or other travel document. Photocopies will not be accepted.
3. Three photographs in the same format as for the US visa
4. Vaccination record, if available
5. Previous chest X-rays, if available
6. If you suffer or have suffered from any chronic condition or underwent major
medical or surgical treatment, please bring medical records or hospital reports.
Insufficient information may lead to delays and additional testing.
Important notices:
1. Children 2—14 years old must visit the MHAC twice. On the day of the health
assessment, they will have a Tuberculin Skin Test (TST), which will be read 48-72
hours (2-3 days) later. Alternatively, they may come 48-72 hours (2-3 days)
before the examination for the TST. For this reason, children under 15 years
should not come for TST on Thursdays.
2. Children under 16 years must be accompanied by a parent or a legal guardian,
who can sign and take decisions on their behalf.
Service fee
The fees are to be paid in US Dollars or Nepali Rupees at the IOM exchange rate for the
month (check exchange rate with IOM staff).
The fee includes:
1. Physical examination
2. Chest X-ray with additional views, if needed
3. Blood drawing, serological test for syphilis, including confirmatory test, if needed
and treatment for syphilis, if needed
4. Tuberculin skin test
5. Additional testing for tuberculosis (TB), if needed
6. Treatment for TB, if needed
7. Reviewing and transcribing vaccination records
8. Pregnancy test, if needed
Fees must be paid at MHAC prior to the health assessment (on the day of health
assessment or before). Fees for vaccinations must be paid on the day of the health
assessment after review of the vaccination history by an IOM health worker.
