Title : Micro controller based power saving system

Objective : Our project focuses on power conservation and can be
implemented in all places like power plant, offices, residential area etc.
As per the requirement of the place the Microcontroller 8085 is
programmed. For a power plant and offices, power supply for official
rooms will automatically given during the working hours and during rest
of the time power will be cut off. Similarly the street lighting can be
switched on and off automatically so wastage of power due to human
negligence can be saved.

#B.E. Project Title : Development of energy management and warning


system for thermal power plant

Done at : Mettur Thermal Power Plant, Mettur, Tamilnadu, India.


Team Size :4
Duration : January 2010 to April 2010.
Objective : Our project can be implemented in thermal power plant
as an energy saving solution. Our project is based on embedded system,
since it is a fast growing technology. PIC16F877 Microcontroller is
programmed to control other hardware devices such as steam valve,
heater, relay, air solenoid valve. This system provides energy
management by monitoring the generation of the plant & controlling the
steam valve to keep generation within the prescribed range. It also gives
a warning and an indication when generation is below or above the
prescribed lower or upper limit respectively. Temperature sensors and
pressure sensors are fitted in the boiler & a separate automatic warning
and control system is provided for indication and automatic control
when the parameters are out of safe limit.
