PROGRAMME OVERVIEW

A. INTRODUCTION

In order to keep abreast with rapid technological advancements and evolving requirements in
industries today, Department of Community College initiated new programs in line with the
nation’s technological and engineering needs. This program aims to equip students with up-to-
date knowledge and skills required in the globalized economy.

The mobile device engineering technology field today demands a highly skilled ad technically
savvy workforce. The activities of all mobile device service providers require increasingly
competent assistant mobile device engineer. One of the most important factors driving the growth
of productivity is by having qualified and competent manpower in this area, in order for the
industry to develop and remain competitive in the mobile world market. To address these issues
the Academician Development Section, DECC cooperates with the mobile device industries to
develop the curriculum and introduce a Diploma in Engineering Technology (Mobile Devices).
This program is designed to provide the technical skills of a mobile device servicing and
fundamental programming of mobile applications suit the industry need.

B. SYNOPSIS

This programme is designed to expose students to the current advancement in the field of mobile
device technology which equips them with the latest knowledge and skills to operate and maintain
mobile devices. Students will gain experience in the operations and maintenance of mobile
devices in addition to troubleshooting and problem solving skills. This programme offers students
an opportunity to study courses such as Electrical Fundamentals, Digital Electronic System,
Analogue Electronic, Mobile Communications Network Basic, Fundamentals of Java
Programming, Measurement And Instrumentation, Data Communication, Mobile Device
Operating System, Mobile And Wireless Networking, Fundamentals of Objective-C Programming,
Mobile And Wireless Security, Mobile Device Management, Mobile Device Repairing, Application
Development (iOS), Circuit Tracing, Constructing, Testing and Commissioning and Flashing
Mobile Device. In addition to the technical courses, students are also taught Islamic Studies,
Moral Studies, English for Communication, Applied Mathematics, Soft Skills, Cocurricular
Subjects, Applied Sciences and Entrepreneurship. After completing all the courses, students will
be attached to the industry for two semesters to apply the knowledge learned as well as to gain
experience of the real work environment. As the programme emphasizes self-initiated learning
and hands-on competencies, graduates of this programme will be ready to take up the challenges
in the world of mobile device technology.

relevant to a broad range of careers in mobile device and service providers industry. The
knowledge and skills acquired from the program will enable students to fill the job market as:-
 Assistant Mobile Device Engineer
 Assistant Electronic Engineer
 Supervisor
 Self Employed in Related Field
 Entrepreneur
 Assistant Application Developer
 Assistant Software Programmer

D. PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEO)

This program provides students:


1. Knowledgeable and technically competent in mobile device servicing disciplines and be
able to adapt themselves with new technological challenges in mobile device industry.
2. Effective in communication and contribute effectively as a team member with the capability
of being a leader.
3. Capable to troubleshoot and maintain the electronic technology equipment innovatively,
creatively, ethically with social responsibility towards developing country and community.
4. Able to demonstrate entrepreneurship skills and recognize the need of lifelong learning for
successful career advancement.

E. PROGRAMME LEARNING OUTCOMES (PLO)

1. Acquire and apply knowledge of electronic technology in mobile device servicing.


2. Demonstrate comprehensive technical expertise in electronic technology.
