Officers present; President Ed Guadet, vice president Bruce Cheek, treasurer Harold Hansen , and acting secretary Steve
Satre.
Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence for POW/MIA and those still serving in harms way around the globe.
Secretary’s report was approved as published. Treasurer Harold Hansen reported the status of our treasury.
Greg Paulline reminded us that the budget will be prepared soon. Anyone wishing to add or comment on the budget should
contact a member of the finance committee.
The leadership conference in Palm Springs California is 23 - 28 July. Paulline is the only one going at this time.
Vice president Bruce cheek announced that representative Dave Loebsack Will be at American Legion Post 26 in Davenport
on July 5 at noon and in Clinton at 3 PM.
The second annual military appreciation night and dinner benefiting the Out Reach center will be held July 20 at 6 PM at
Adventure Christian community church, 6609 Northwest Blvd., Davenport.
Doors open at five. Taco bar $10 per person. Bill Albracht will be the speaker and among other things he was the youngest
captain to command combat troops in Vietnam. A special guest will be Cheyenne Prowant; a 21-year-old who grew up in a
military home and witnessed the effects of PTSD.
Bill Robertson ,Nick McQuiston and Darrell Thode shared coin stories.
Thode also reported that Fresh Tyme will donate one dollar for every bag they sell to charity, not necessarily VVA.
Larry Witt detailed our membership: 179 lifetime members, 32individual and 29AVA .Denny Quael reported the honor guard
has been doing funerals and will march in the Bettendorf Independence Day Parade.
Paulline asked if anyone was interested in clover sales in Clinton or Muscatine. We raised $10,418 in June which is less than
other years.
Witt reported on rock ‘n’ roll bingo planned for September 22 at American Legion Post 26 in Davenport - doors open at six then
bingo at seven.
Cheek mentioned that an LST 325 was coming to the isle of Capri dock. It is the last of over 1000 LSTs built for World War II
and later wars including Vietnam.It will dock Wednesday, August 29 and will be open for tours at 6 PM August 30 through
September 3..Next honor flight will be August 18. We will have a hospital visit on August 6 according to Ed Hildebrand. Ernest
Ledjte announced jet skiers will be at the Davenport yacht club on Independence Day with proceeds to benefit VVA.
Gaudet spoke of a program to honor medics and doctors which include Rod Kjersten, Scott Meister, Bob Behm, and Guadet
from our chapter.
August 14 and 15th region six meeting at Prairie Meadows Casino in Altoona.
Cheek reported that there will be a car show August 18 at Northpark benefiting the veterans Out Reach center. Guadet
announced that there will be a car show July 14 at Thiels in DeWitt from 10:30 to 1:30 with free lunch.
