Nr 2 Season 2014/2015
Dear all!
Yesterday Kockelscheuer ice rink opened its doors. Also our season is ready to start, the
markings have been already done on 28th August by us!
Our cadre skaters had yesterday their first training and from now on they have two
sessions during the week and two during the weekend. It was nice to see the group so
motivated!
We hope to get you also into our competition group!
We start the training on Sunday 21st September at 15:30 and as last year, we will have
around 17:30 a information session. Might be that we have something to eat & drink!
If you are interested we have received an invitation from Mannheim, Germany to a small
competition which is held on 27th September from 12:00-17:00
We would recommend you to make a one day trip to Mannheim (2h30min drive) to test your
speed after the summer holiday. All skaters are mostly welcome!
Also Aldwych is having a competition on the same day, if Mannheim is too close!
Please inform under [email protected] or next Sunday to Simon if you are attending to one of
these competitions!

SHORTTRACK LUXEMBOURG NEWS 3/ Season 2014-2015

OPENING GAMES IN TURNHOUT 11.10.2014
Next Saturday we have skaters competing in the Opening Games in Turnhout. Over
180 skaters will skate on one day in many races, so there will be much action on
ice. We wish Caroline, Augustin, Eric and Max good luck! And to Cecilia and Peter
get well soon! To Cameron we wish best luck for the studies and we like to see you
on Sundays on ice, as we do like to see you all there!
First BENELUX Cup in Wilrijk will be skated by Caroline and hopefully also Peter is
back on track! It will be on the 19th October, 2014
First Starclass competition will be held in Dresden 24 - 26.10.2014 and there are
already 113 skaters entered to the competition, Cecilia & Max included!

Caroline 1st, Augustin 2nd and other good results from TURNHOUT
Opening Games in Turnhout was skated two weeks ago and Caroline took the
1st place in Girls Junior D. Augustin took the 2nd place in Boys Junior D. Eric & Max skated well, but the
official overall positions are not yet out. Congrats!
Cecilia and Peter are both back on ice!
First BENELUX Cup in Wilrijk was skated by Caroline, Augustin but not Peter because of the bad ice-
condition. All Group A skaters were not allowed to start! Results will follow when they are out!
Cecilia and Max will skate next weekend in the Starclass competition in Dresden with many other skaters.

On Monday 27th October from 14:00 we are having in Kockelscheuer the

Journéé Nationale des Sports de Glace. We would like to see as many skaters as possible on ice, but further

NEW PB’s for Cecilia and Max from Dresden

Cecilia and Max were skating last weekend in the Starclass competition in Dresden new records. Here are their new
records:

Max 500m 45.137 (old 45.674) NEW NATIONAL RECORD
Today, 27th October from 14:00 we are having in Kockelscheuer the Journéé Nationale des Sports de Glace. We
would like to see as many skaters as possible on ice. Please arrive to Kockelscheuer latest 13:30 ! Our session is from
14-15 and the club presentations of all clubs starts at 16:00

Journée Nationale des Sports de Glace 2014
We had six skaters on ice, our competition group with Caroline, Cecilia, Cameron, Max and Peter and newly from figure
skating to shorttrack moved Anna. I think they made a very nice impression to the audience. A special thank goes to Steve
for the comments during the shorttrack presentation!
We like also to thank the organisers for this event! Thank you Anne Chlecq, Marie-Jeanne Schmit, Gilbert Stoffel, Alex Benoy,
and not to forget Lex, Bea & Heidi. A special thank also to the EISMEISTER’s who helped our team with the matts!

CAROLINE 2ND AND PETER 5TH WITH A PB FROM GRONINGEN

Last weekend Caroline and Peter skated in the 26th Autumn Tournament in Groningen and
Caroline took the 2nd place in Girls Junior D
Peter took the 5th place in Boys Junior D and he made a personal record. Congrats!

Last weekend we had skaters in the BENELUX CUP 2 in Eindhoven.
Peter was 3rd in Divisie A and all others made at least one PB. Here are the times. Congrats!

AUGUSTIN WON BOTH COMPETITIONS AND A NEW PB

Last weekend in Cholet Augustin won both competitions, Challenge Pays de Loire and Championnats de Ligue
Pays de Loire. Augustin was also invited to participate on 12th April 2015
in the Championnats de France Juniors. Chapeaux!!!

ULPV 10 / Season 2014-2015
A NEW STAR(CLASS) WINNER IS BORN

Last weekend in the Starclass 2 NC – Europe Cup in Grenoble Augustin won the
Overall Classification in Men Junior D series!
With three (3) PB’s his weekend was more than fantastic and that in his first ever
STARCLASS competition. Here are his new PB’s! CONGRATS!

Our Starclass Ladies Junior D skater Caroline was 3rd in the 1000m final and she was

MAX WITH A PB FROM HASSELT

Last weekend Cecilia and Max skated in the Starclass 3 (BA L/M-2) – Europa Cup in Hasselt and both had good
races on very tricky conditions. Cecilia took the 24th Overall position in Ladies Junior B with times close to her PB’s
having been weeks out of training due to an injury. Max was Overall 23rd in Men Junior A and he made a personal
record. Congrats!

HAPPY & FASTER NEW YEAR 2015

Half of the season is over and we had an excellent half-season with very good results and nice personal bests.
Sad to tell you that we have also a bad news. Cameron Bisset retired from skating due to studies. We all wish him
all the best and hope to see him one day on ice!
As a replacement we have Anna Ruysschaert starting in Junior D her shorttrack skating career in Tilburg in a few
weeks! Welcome to the team!

CECILIA BACK WITH A PB FROM NOTTINGHAM

Last weekend the first international shorttrack competition in the UK took place in Nottingham.
Robin Hood opened the ceremony and 3000 school children were making more than enough noise! The TEAM GB
with Elise Christie and Jack Whelbourne and 120 other skaters enjoyed the audience and the venue!
In the StarClass 4 Europa Cup we saw also pretty active actions of repairing the ice.
Max was skating his season best in 1500m 2:34.686 and was 16th overall in Men Junior A
Cecilia made a PB first in Semi Finals and then even a better time in the Final and was 15th
overall in category Ladies Junior B. Here is her new PB:

Third BENELUX Cup will be skated next Sunday in Tilburg and we will have a big team there.

BACK FROM TILBURG WITH VERY GOOD PERFORMANCE

Last weekend our Competition Group were participating in Tilburg in the BENELUX CUP.
Max was at least 2nd (could be even the first) in Divisie A where we had in the 500m Final 3 skaters,
Augustin, Peter and Max. Well done boys!
Anna was first time in a competition and ALL results are PB’s (very good ones for the start)

MAX BACK FROM EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS 2015 WITH TWO PB’s

Last weekend our skater Max was competing with the best men in the European Short Track Speed Skating
Championships 2015 in Dordrecht. 26.000 people were watching the games on place and it was even sent live in
the Dutch TV. European Short Track Speed Skating Champions became Sjinkie Knegt (NED) in Men and in Ladies
Elise Christie (GB) took the gold after very exciting races. Max was 39th in overall with the following PB’s

AUGUSTIN WON AGAIN HIS CLASS !!!

Last weekend our skaters Caroline, Augustin and Peter were competing in the StarClass 5 (NC-2) Europa Cup in
Heerenveen. Augustin was 1st in the 1000m and 777m races and 3rd in 500m. Overall in Boys Junior D he was 1st
and in the StarClass RANKING he is 1st. Caroline took bravely the 3rd place in 777m and was 4th in overall in Girls
Junior D. Augustin and Caroline have achieved a place to the EUROPA CUP FINAL.
Peter was in overall 11th in Boys Junior C with a nice PB. Below the new PB’s

Tomorrow Max will travel to Dresden to participate in the WORLD CUP competition. This will be the first time we
send a skater to a WORLD CUP. He will skate with 115 skaters from 25 countries in two distances, 500m and 1000m.
ISU is streaming the races and Korean TV is sending it as always live!
On Saturday and Sunday Caroline and Cecilia will participate in the SPECULAAS CUP in Hasselt.

MAX BACK FROM WORLD CUP WITH MANY NEW EXPERIENCES!!

CAROLINE CLEARLY NUMBER ONE AND CECILIA 6th
Max was in Dresden skating in the ISU WORLD CUP and took the 45th place in both distances. First place in 500m
with a time 40,853 went to Dmitry Migunov from Russia (leader in the World Cup) and 1000m winner was Semen
Elistratov also from Russia. Max was skating times close to his PB’s. This time he shared the changing room with the
Italians and Chinese!
Same weekend our skaters Caroline and Cecilia were in Hasselt to participate in the SPECULAAS CUP.
Caroline won all her races clearly! So in the end she was 1st in category Girls Junior D.
Cecilia achieved the 6th place in category Ladies A/B.

Next Saturday many of our skaters (old & new) will participate
in Liedekerke in the RANKING – Benelux Cup competition.

FIVE NEW SHORT TRACKERS ON INTERNATIONAL ICE
RANKING – Benelux Cup competition was skated last Saturday in Liedekerke where we had a team of nine (9)
skaters and from these five (5) where first time attending on international competition! The success was great and
our Belgian and Dutch friends where astonished about the many new skaters! Here you have the PB’s done last

Caroline and Peter are skating in the Starclass 6 (NC-3) - Europa Cup competition starting Friday in Torino. It’s the
last Starclass competition before the CUP FINAL. We wish them good luck and a safe journey!
CAROLINE IN TORINO 6TH AND PETER 10TH WITH A PB
Last weekend Caroline and Peter were competing in the StarClass 6 (NC-2) Europa Cup in Torino. This was the last
competition before the EUROPA CUP FINAL which will be skated in Oberstdorf from 20-22.3.2015. Here the eight (8)
best skaters of each category from the StarClass Series and the Danubia Cup will meet to see who is fastest! We have
two skaters participating in the FINAL, Caroline and Augustin. CONGRATS!!!

CHAMPIONNAT NATIONAL DE SHORT TRACK 2015
We are arranging the Luxembourg Short Track Speed Skating Championships in Kockelscheuer on
Sunday 8th March, 2015 from 16:00
Over 30 skaters in different categories will have exciting races to see who is fastest in Luxembourg.
We start the WARM-UP session at 15:45 and the first race starts 16:15
All skaters please arrive in good time!
Like always, we arrange a BUFFET for the audience and hope that the skaters get also some left overs!
We wish you ALL mostly welcome to see some actions on ice!!

CECILIA BACK FROM MUNICH WITH A PB AND MAX WITH A NEW LESSON
Munich Open was skated last weekend by Cecilia and Max. 170 skaters in many categories were competing during
two days in over 250 races. Here are the results from our skaters from Munich

CONGRATS!!! (Max got a DNF (did not finish) not because a

fall, but due to a friendly slap into the face from the first
skater in the last bent so Max went too wide left and
missed the finish line!)

Long Track Championships in Den Haag for Luxembourg! Augustin is practicing in Fontenay! After that we have still
Easter Cup in Gent 4 -5.4.2015 and 11.4.2015 Closing Games in Turnhout.

FIRST PLACE FOR CECILIA IN BELFORT

We had Cecilia and Max skating in the Trophee Grand Lion in Belfort. Many skaters from
France and from neighbouring countries wanted to try new records on usually fast ice but
this time the ice was not that fast!
Cecilia took 2nd PLACE OVERALL and was 1st in category LADIES B
The organizers divided the MEN JUNIOR B, A and SENIOR
in two groups for safety reasons - MEN FUN
- MEN JUNIOR B-A-SENIOR
Max took in the latter group 6 PLACE OVERALL and was 2nd in his category.

Cecilia & Max were asked also to participate in a 3000m RELAY with two skaters from Albertville Mathias Courteville and
Cédric Glauda. This team won the relay but due to a PENALTY the time was taken out. It was less than 4:38.076!!
Caroline was taking in Den Haag first trials in LONG TRACK with PB’s in all distances!
Here are the results: 500m 51,66s/1000m 1:42.29s/1500m 2:38.36 CONGRATS TO THE SKATERS
Next weekend we have Anna, Caroline, Cecilia, Peter and Max skating in the Easter Cup in Gent.

EASTER ON ICE WITH TWO PODIUMPLACES

After have skated two days in Gent our skaters were training yesterday in Kockelscheuer.
What a nice RINK and a good ICE we have here! The rink is almost warm! Thanks for that!
Easter Cup – Golden Sun in Gent was skated by five skaters; Anna, Caroline, Cecilia, Max &
Peter. One new record was done, our TEAM LUXEMBOURG did in the 3000m relay a new
National record of 4:59.809 ! (skated by all except Anna). On the Podium we had
Cecilia 1st place in Ladies B and Peter 3rd place in Men Junior C.

Caroline 4 th category Girls Junior D
Max 7 th category Men Senior/A
Anna 10 th category Girls Junior D CONGRATS TO THE SKATERS
Next weekend we have Anna, Caroline, Cecilia, Augustin, Peter and Max skating in the
last competition of this season in the Closing Games – Golden Sun in Turnhout.
Good luck to all skaters. We have still this Sunday and next (12.4 & 19.4) training, and then this season is done.
We start to prepare the summer training and hope to get some time in Coque!

WHAT A SEASON ENDING!!!

Closing Games – Golden Sun was skated last Saturday in Turnhout with our six skaters;
Anna, Caroline, Cecilia, Augustin, Max & Peter. This was the last competition for this season.
On the Podium we had on first place Caroline, Cecilia, Augustin and on second place
Peter. Augustin did also a new PB!
Here are the fantastic results:

The Golden Sun Award is given to the best skaters of each category from the competitions in Amsterdam, Hasselt, Gent &
Turnhout. Our skaters Caroline and Cecilia were awarded in their category. 
We have still training next Sunday 19th April and we start to prepare the summer training and hope to get some time in
Coque! Summer camps are organized in different places and if you have interest take contact with Eric, Simon or Kaj.
