Introduction of ALK-3

This newsletter introduces an optional ALK-3 data communication function for Aloka diagnostic ultrasound systems that allows transmission of patient and measurement data to a personal computer. It can transmit data like patient information, obstetrics/gynecology measurements, and cardiology/vascular/urology data (for certain models). To use this function, the system requires: 1) A compatible software version, 2) An optional isolation unit kit, 3) A PC with compatible software and a connecting cable. Compatible software can be purchased from several companies listed in an attachment. This function reduces retyping of data and improves data management efficiency.

Dear Sirs,

Introduction of Optional ALK-3 Data Communication Function

We would like to introduce an optional function that can transmit patient data and
measurement data obtained by Aloka diagnostic ultrasound system to a personal
computer. This function is referred to as ALK-3 data communication.

The data that can be transmitted by this function are;


･ Patient information, i. g., ID number, name, age, and so on.
･ Measurement values in obstetrical and gynecological reports
･ Cardiac, PV (peripheral vascular), and Urological measurement data (These data
can be transmitted only by SSD-4000.)
As for the details of the data that can be transmitted, please refer to the attached
sheets. Please note that transmitted data depends on the software installed in the PC.

The transmitted data can be managed by the personal computer. This will reduce the
operator’s task of retyping measurement values on the PC, increase the accuracy of
data input, and eventually contribute to time-saving. Management of patient data will
become much easier with this function.

The followings are needed for ALK-3 data communication:


(1) Such a diagnostic ultrasound system that has a certain level of software version

system to the necessary level.
(2) Optional kit (isolation unit) for ALK-3 data communication

Note: Please note that other models including SSD-1700 are not and will not be

(3) Personal computer with appropriate software installed and a cable to connect

Cable:
Type: RS-232C
Wire connection: strait
Connector for the isolation unit side: male DB-25
Connector for the PC side: a connector that fits to the RS-232C port of the PC
(female DB-9 or male DB-25, which depends on the PC)

Personal computer:
The PC needs software that enables ALK-3 data communication. Please
purchase commercially available software at your side. We would like to name
some companies that can sell software that enables ALK-3 data communication
as attached. If you desire your original software, please make your local
software company develop such software independently.
Please note that the usable PC and its environment depend on the software.
For detailed information, please contact the software company.

At present we can introduce the four companies. In the near future, we would
like to add other companies in this list when verification of the software is
completed.
