Lesson Plan

The document outlines a lesson plan on geometric sequences. It defines geometric sequences as sequences where each term is obtained by multiplying the previous term by a constant ratio. The lesson includes activities to identify geometric sequences, find common ratios, and determine subsequent terms. Students must complete practice problems finding missing terms in geometric sequences and be able to distinguish geometric sequences from arithmetic sequences. The objective is for students to understand geometric sequences and be able to work with terms at least 75% of the time.

C. Generalization

A geometric sequence is a sequence in which term is obtained by

multiplying the preceding term by a constant number, called the common ratio.
Arithmetic sequence and geometric sequence are both sequence, however,
they differ from each other. In a geometric sequence, the term is obtained by
multiplying the preceding term by a constant number, called common ratio while
an arithmetic sequence, the term is obtained by adding the preceding term by a
constant number, called common difference.
To find the next terms in a geometric sequence, we multiply the preceding
term by the common ratio.

b. 2, -6, 18, -54, . . . d. 1, 5, 9, 13, . . .

2. A geometric sequence is a sequence in which a term is obtained by adding the

preceding term by a constant number. True or False?
3. Give the common ratio of the geometric sequence 81, 243, 729, . . .
4. Give the missing term in the sequence 5, 15, 45, , 405, . . .
