Table Setting Contest

The document describes instructions for a table setting contest that will involve students creating place settings, signing up to participate, and having others vote on their top choices. Students will decide on a menu, cut out and glue place setting pieces in the proper places, and use colored pencils to decorate their setting as either formal or informal. They will bring real place setting pieces from home and create an attractive display to be judged on criteria like completeness, correct placement, and coordination.

2. Cut out silhouettes of place setting pieces, glue the

pieces onto the placement provided in their proper
places.
3. Label the cover as either formal or informal, which
will depend on the occasion, the food, the environment,
etc.
4. Use colored pencils to color each of the place setting
pieces. This is a ‘teaser’ for the upcoming event in Lesson
6 – The Table Setting Contest/Display/Assessment – each
student will bring from home, Grandma’s house, etc. all the pieces necessary
for an attractive cover. Disposable paper and plastic implements will not be
acceptable. Make this pretty, something that will attract the diners.
Remember, this is an assessment (that’s like a TEST!). No late work on
this assignment will be accepted.
