Assignment Case Study

This case study examines budget issues facing South Ridge State University. The state funding to the university has declined, causing it to freeze hiring, impose no salary increases, and increase tuition fees. This has negatively impacted the university's administrators, teaching staff, students, and chief business officer. Going forward, university leaders must remain optimistic while reinforcing ethical business practices. They should also focus on reprioritizing spending rather than just raising costs, and maintain strong values of integrity, respect and concern for all impacted. The chief challenge is how administrators will resolve the effects of the declining budget situation.

1. What, if any, issues are concern for you

 South Ridge State University has faced a domino effect issues with regards budget situation. The
state support had declined due to this issue, the university temporary freeze hiring, there will be
no salary increase and increased in tuition fees. This temporary bandage to problems draw
public attention.

2. What constituencies might be connected? What might their concerns be?

 The primary constituents in this said issue are the school administrators, teaching staff, students
and the chief business officer. These people will be affected by the effects of funding and
budget situation within the university. These people must also work hand in hand to resolve the
issue.

3. What, if anything, do you do or say, and whom? What's your rationale?

 According to the case study on p. 7 “Campus leaders remain optimistic about the
long‐term, but they do notexpect the situation to improve in the next several years.” I
strongly agree that despite the adversities and the predicament that a university is in,
leaders as much as possible should remain positive and determine. Being challenged on
different issues, one must start to reinforce a sound ethical business practices. These
practices involve the choice between what is ethically responsible to what will be the
profit or gain. In addition, there must be a solid culture among the leaders in the
organizational chart

4. What, if anything, do you think should be done? Why?

 As one of the given solutions in the case study, p. 9 “refocusing and reprioritizing rather than
continually raising the cost of products and services-tuition.” an institution who consistently
choose to be ethically correct in running a business can successfully create an ethical culture in
the business.Despite the problems that a university face, leaders must continue to demonstrate
the core values that describe its business. Maintain and establish strong integrity, respect,
loyalty and concern. University and leaders must adhere to laws and regulations. Demonstrate
respect to its employees and students through valuing their opinions. Furthermore, members of
the organizational chart and employees must stay in partnership even during challenging times.
Lastly, all involved in issues should have aconcernfor anyone and anything being impacted by
