Load Calculation Workform

The document provides a worksheet to calculate load and size solar photovoltaic systems. It involves calculating AC and DC loads in watts and amp hours per week. The total weekly load in amp hours is divided by the system voltage and days of the week to get the average daily amp hours load. This load is multiplied by 1.2 to account for losses and divided by the average sun hours per day to determine the total solar array amps required. This is divided by the peak amps of the solar module to get the total number of modules needed. A second section calculates battery size based on average daily load and expected cloudy days.

SOLAR ARRAY Sizing Work form

This worksheet helps you figure the total number of solar modules required for your system. If you want
year-round reliability, it's best to use the lowest of the Peak Sun Hours or "smooth" the data for seasonal
applications. The peak amperage (maximum power) of the module you will be using can be found in the
module specifications.

1. Total average amp. Hours per day from the system loads 866.74Ah/day
2. Multiply line 1 by 1.2 to compensate for loss from battery charge/discharge 1040.09Ah/day
3. Average sun hour per day site location 4.5sun hours/day.
4. Divided line2 by line 3. This is the total solar array amps required. 231.13A
5. Optimum or peak amps of solar module used. See module specification 63A
6. Total number pf solar modules in parallel required. Divided line 4 by 5 36.9 solar panel modules

7. Total average amp hours per day from system load

8. Maximum number of continuos cloudy day expected in you area
9. Multiplay line 1 by 2.
10. Divided line 3 by(maximum)0.8 to mmaintain a 20% reserve after deep discharge period.
