Games Overview • The Business Simulation Games will incorporate 3 main elements namely:- • Team business strategy • Team processes in business • Team communication
• The games will be divided in 3 Parts as follows:-
• Part I – The Fishing Game – 30 mins • Part II – The Structure Game – 30 mins • Part III – The Hauling Game – 30 mins 1. Games Overview (continue) • For each game, a time limit will be imposed for teams to complete the tasks.
• A 1 minute breather for team to strategies the next move
between each game.
• The games will utilize paper money to represent currency
and they will be required to accumulate the most money collection to win the games.
• For each game, a target will be set for the teams to
achieve. Bonus of 100,000 will be given to the teams that achieve their target. 1.Objectives • The objectives are:-
1. To understand the business environment and
challenges 2. To understand staffs role in achieving T target through collaborative decision makings 3. To enhance teamwork among the key components of divisions. 2.Teams • There will be 4-5 teams competing for the games. • Each team to comprise of 8 members namely:- • CEO – 1 • Sales – 2 • Marketing– 2 • Operation– 1 • Support– 1 • Player - 1 • Players are interchangeable but to add additional player team will pay an additional amount of money depending on the game. 3. Marshalls • Head Marshall – 1 • To pay the teams the `money’ they won and to penalize teams by receiving the `money’ from them. • To coordinate with Marshalls and accumulate `money’ achieved by each team to determine team winner • Supplier – 1 • To supply items required and receive `money’ paid by the teams. • Marshalls – 5 • To guide teams and counting their `money’ at each points in the games • Runners – 2 to 3 • To transport/fill up items where necessary. 4. Items Required I. Packet drinks II. Fishing Rods III. Coloured plastic basin IV. Paper currency (3 coloured) with the following denominators and paper weight:- I. Blue II. Green III. Red V. Square soft board VI. Paper clips VII. Magnets 5. Rules & Regulations I. Team set up a. Each team to appoint a CEO. b. Each team to name the team and have a team energizer. c. Each team will be allocated 50,000 paper money as a start and will use the `money’ during the games. d. The team that accumulated the most `money’ at the end of the games will be the overall winner. e. A target will be set for each game and the teams that achieved the target will be awarded with an additional 50,000 bonus for the game. 5. Rules & Regulations II Part I – The Fishing Game a. Each of the 5 teams will be given 2 fishing rods for their 2 players (Sales) to fish. b. The teams may request additional fishing rod but need to pay the Supplier for 10000 each rod. c. The players at the starting line need to run to the 3 basins and `fish’ the `money’ from the basins. c. The `money’ are placed in the 3 basins according to the 3 denominations e. They then will run back with their `money’ to the starting line and pass the `money’ to their CEOs. f. They will need to `fish’ as many times to complete the 2 min run. 5. Rules & Regulations II Part I – The Fishing Game (continue) f. A 1 minute breather will be allocated and teams are allowed to discuss and strategies. g. Another round of 2 minutes will be played for the teams to `fish’ the money. h. Any money dropped during the process will be returned to the basin. i. After 3 rounds, the final `money’ collected will be counted to determine the winner for Part I. j. Target for this game is 70,000 to qualify for 20K team bonus. 5. Rules & Regulations II Part II – The Structure Game a. Each of the 5 teams will be given 20 packet drinks to assemble a structure. 2 players from each team to compete in this task. b. The teams may request additional packet drinks but need to pay the Supplier 200 per packet drink at the start of the game. c. The packet drink structure will be placed on the soft board. d. Upon completing the structure, the teams will carry the soft board (with the structure on it) to the finishing line. 5. Rules & Regulations II Part II – The Structure Game e. The Structure will be handed to the Marshalls at the finishing line to count the height and number of packet drinks successfully erected. f. The height score is based on the number of stories the structure has and will multiplied by 1000 eg for 5 stories structure, the team will get 5000. g. The number score is based on the number of packet drinks collected, the team will get 200 for each packet drinks. h. The teams will need to complete the structure as many times within 2 minutes allocated. i. A 1 minute breather is given for the team to strategies in between. 5. Rules & Regulations II Part II – The Structure Game i. Any packet drinks dropped from the Structure, the team will be penalize 200 for each packet drink. j. After 3 rounds, the final `money’ collected will be counted to determine the winner for Part II. k. Target for this game is additional 70% from the sum accumulated from the Fishing Game (Bonus not inclusive) 5. Rules & Regulations II Part III – The Hauling Game a. Based on the total packet drinks accumulated from the Structure Game, 1 player and 1 player (from each team will be required to transport all the packet drinks to the finishing point. b. These packet drinks are placed in the 3 colored plastic basins. c. The player will run to the basins to pick up and place the packet drinks on to the body of the player while he transport the packet drinks over to the finishing line and he is not allowed to use his hands to hold the packet drinks. 5. Rules & Regulations II Part III – The Hauling Game (continue) d. Any packet drinks dropped during the process, the team will be penalize 200 each packet drink. e. For the dropped packet drinks, the Player X from other teams may pick them up as their own score. f. The team that managed to transport all their packet drinks will be declared the winner of Part III. g. Each team will be awarded 500 per packet drink transported.
