FORM
Affirmative:
Subject + verb to be + main verb + ING + complement
Example: I am working at the office / she is listening to music / you are cutting paper
Negative:
Subject + verb to be + not + main verb + ING + complement
Example: I am not working at the office / she is not listening to music / you are not cutting paper
Interrogative:
(wh question) Verb to be + Subject + main verb + ING + complement + ?
Example: Is she listening to music?/ Are you cutting paper? / What are you doing in the house?
Short answers:
Yes, I am No, I am not
Yes, he/she/it is No, he/she/it is not
Yes, you/we/they are No, you/we/they are not
USE
We use the present continuous:
To talk about things that are happening now, at the moment we speak.
To talk about things that are happening now, but not exactly at the moment we speak.
IMPORTANT
Some verbs are not used in the present continuous. They are normally used in the simple forms.

SPELLING RULES
4. If the verb is monosyllable and ends in one consonant + one vowel + one consonant ,we double the consonant.
get > getting
run > running
shop > shopping
sit > sitting
put > putting
*Exceptions:
a) When the verb ends in one vowel + -y, -w or -x ,we just add -ing.
play > playing
snow > snowing
mix > mixing
