Dear students
Summer brings with it the ever smiling sun, fresh breeze, blossoming flowers and HOLIDAYS !
It’s time to play and have fun. We have planned some fun activities to make the optimum use of your
energy and give a vent to your creativity so that you continue learning during the holiday break as
well. Plan your work in a way that you finish well in time and enjoy with your family and friends.

ENGLISH

1. Read the book “Wings of Fire” by Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam.


 Write a short summary of the story in your own words.
 Write the character sketch of the main character.
 Frame 10 questions from the story and answer those questions in your own
words.
 Choose 10 interesting adjectives and 10 adverbs from the book and find their
dictionary meanings.
 Find one synonym and one antonym for all the 20 words.
 Make interesting sentences using any 10 words.
 Present your work creatively in a scrapbook.

2. Write 10 questions to interview your ‘Role Model’ in the field of education to find
out about the things they used to do when they were of your age which no longer
exist/ no longer followed or done.
Eg. Leisure time activities
Games
Customs practised etc.
Make it interesting, write the questions with the imaginary answers on A-4 size
sheet and prepare to conduct an interview in class after the vacation.
Your interview must have a lot of details for the reader to understand the
yesteryears clearly. Have fun!

Do the following questions in English Grammar notebook.

3. Write a diary entry of those 10 days in your vacation when you enjoyed the most or
had an adventurous experience in English Grammar notebook.

4. Creating poetry is a great way to help students to learn to enjoy words and to
develop their own creativity. Take the first step into the world of poetry and
compose a poem on the topic ‘Summer Holidays’. (minimum three stanzas)
5. You are Neha/Nikhli of Ram Public School. Write a notice to be put on the school
notice board regarding ‘Exposition’ to be held in your school in the month of July
2018.

6. You make the following notes after reading about the disappearance of bird habitats
from city forests and parks. You are Sonu/ Sonalika. Write an article in 100-120
words stressing upon the need for bringing back the birds to the city.

Overuse of pesticides in maintenance of city parks – cutting down of roadside trees –


putting up of communication towers on rooftops facing parks – leading to extinction of
