Guyana faces issues from deforestation and pollution despite having a low population density. It is located in northeastern South America and has a majority East Indian population, followed by African. Guyana is the only English-speaking country in South America and has a majority Protestant population. It has changed hands between Dutch, English, and socialist rule. Currently, Guyana has a national parliament where the Partnership for National Unity+Alliance for Change party holds a slim majority over the center-left People’s Progressive Party based on proportional representation.
