Answer all of the following questions:

Question 1: (4Marks)

For the circuit shown in the following Figure:

(a) Find the transfer function Vo/Vin. [2 Marks]


(b) Put the transfer function in a PID-Controller form, what are the values of Kp, Ki and
Kd as a function of the circuit components? [2 Marks]

Question (2): [8Marks]

For the shown control system, design a PI-controller such that the closed loop
poles of the system located at S= -2 + j 2.

A control system is shown in the following Figure:

(a) What is the system type? [1 Mark]


(b) Determine the steady-state error (ess) due to a unit-step input and unit ramp
input. [4 Marks]
(c) Find the value of the controller gain factor K such that the steady state error
(ess) ≤ 5%. [3 Marks]

(a) Sketch the Root-locus diagram for the shown system indicating: [6 Marks]
- Breakaway point
- Intersection with imaginary axis
- Asymptotes
(b) What is the range of the gain factor K for the system to be stable? [1 Marks]
(c) Find the value of K that leads to a damping factor η = 0.7. [3 Marks]

Derive the open loop transfer function [GH(s)] from the given Bode plot
