Alternatives and Each organisation will need to set up the structure for the use of alternatives and
method codes therefore the use of method codes. Method codes are defined in (SYS115) and
could relate generally to say a first alternative option or specifically to a variant in
the BoM or Routing.
The combination of the BoM method and the Routing method defines the overall
manufacturing process. A table of valid combinations is maintained through
(SYS135) and automatically generated using (SYS137).
New cost set To maintain standards for valid alternative method combinations, a new cost set will
be required.
1. Creating a cost set using (CST140) for the BoM method/ Routing method
combination.
2. Maintain BoM and Routing for the method.
3. Run load standards from routings (CST600) for the alternative method cost set.
When this has been done the standard cost based on the alternative BOM and
routing will be calculated.
Note: This is subject to the finance and costing review, which has not been
completed.

Navigation Details:
BOM Mfg. Method Code : Use the manufacturing method code to allow alternate
bills of material within a facility. The BOM Mfg. Method Code can be left blank.
This manufacturing method code allows experimental variations of a standard Bill
of Material, operational variations of a standard BOM, etc. Typical uses of the
manufacturing method code include substitution of components on the standard
BOM/Formula/Recipe or alternate routings (operational) tied to the components of
the BOM.
