Caution
Never remove an IPC FEC-Standard from the top-hat rail
while it is wired. All cable connections must have been
removed before the IPC FEC-Standard is removed.
Caution
Avoid using screwdrivers or other levering tools to
separate the IPC FEC-Standard from the top-hat rail. If you
avoid using auxiliary tools, unwanted vibrations or even
damage to the wall and the IPC FEC-Standard is avoided.
Warning
Never dismantle an IPC FEC-Standard from the wall while it
is wired. All cable connections must have been removed
before the IPC FEC-Standard is dismantled.
Warning
Never dismantle an IPC FEC-Standard from the wall or from
the top-hat rail while it is wired. All cable connections must
have been removed before the IPC FEC-Standard is
dismantled.
Caution
Never try to remove the IPC FEC-Standard from the top-hat
rail before the wall mounting screws have been removed .
Slide the clamp-type cable lug of the earthing cable onto one
of the two lug holders positioned on the two sides of the IPC
FEC-Standard. The other end of the earthing cable is
connected to the central star-head earthing point. This
earthing applies for an example without top-hat rail (see Fig.
2/3).

Caution
Reversing of the polarity at the supply of the digital output
module has to be avoided under all circumstances.
The use of an external protection (4 AF) of the output mo-
dule is recommended.

The IPC FEC-Standard types 620 and 660 have 3 analog in-
puts (0-20 mA) available. The resolution of the inputs amount
to 12 bits. Connection to a connector PS1 SAC30 is implem-
ented as shown below.
The two connectors PS1 SAC11 and PS1 SAC31 are not suit-
able for use in this case since the integrated LEDs can cause a
measuring error in the analog value.
Please note
The analog input signal lines are to be implemented with
shielded cables. Cables with braided shielding (80% cover-
age) are suitable. The shielding is to be connected at the
module end, as a large area and as low-resistance.
Please note
The input impedance of the analog input is not linear and
greater than 300 R.
If an additional current input is added in the current path
(0-20 mA) of the analog input, the total impedance is over
300 R.
A voltage measurement parallel to the input resistance
produces non-linear measured values.
Please refer to the technical data for more detailed in-
formation on he input impedance.

When using the analog part with exclusive use of the analog
inputs, it is not absolutely necessary to supply the analog
output module (see block diagrams for analog inputs and
outputs).
The FEC Standard types 620 and 660 have 1 analog output.
The internal resolution of the output amounts to 12 bits. The
signal is a current signal (0-20 mA). The connection to a con-
nector PS1 SAC10 is shown below using a propor tional valve
as an example.
Caution
Reversing of the polarity at the supply of the analog output
module has to be avoided under all circumstances. The
use of an external protection (125 mAF) of the output
module is recommended.
Please note
The analog output signal lines are to be implemented with
shielded cables. Cables with braided shielding (80%
coverage) are suitable. The shielding is to be connected at
the module end, as a large area and as low-resistance.

Caution
Do not switch on the power supply after you have com-
pleted the wiring of the ”Power 24V DC”, but wait until the
whole installation has been completed.
Depending on the design of the power supply and the con-
nector used a contact overload may occur.
A protection of the feeder cable is to be implemented.
Note
The connections between the Connectors 1 to 5 and 6 to
10 are suitable for the power supply of the outputs or in-
puts. The maximum power supply for single contacts of the
connector, is to be taken from the corresponding da-
tasheet in every case of use.
Note
In order not to evaluate every intermediate position when
switching from one position to another one across several
intermediate positions, reading out of the switch is
delayed.
The value is not read out until the switch rests for approx.
2 seconds in the same position
Warning
A change in the switch position of the function selector
switch during running operation can have serious conse-
quences depending on the programs which are assigned
to the switch positions.
Note
Separate the signal input and signal output wires in
separate cable ducts and avoid bundling the signals. Do
not use the same multiple-conductor cable to wire the
signal inputs and outputs.
Caution
Check the supply voltage and earthing connections as well
as the input/output connections before switching on the
current.
Warning
Ensure that the supply voltage is separated from the IPC
FEC-Standard before replacing the cable or taking similar
steps.
Note
For EMERGENCY-OFF functions the output loads should be
switched off by a switch outside the IPC FEC-Standard
which separates the load voltage from the output ter-
minals.
If you connect an EMERGENCY OFF circuit, please ensure
that national wiring or safety regulations are observed.
Caution
The operating voltage of the IPC FEC-Standard is protected
against reversing of the polarity. Nevertheless, check the
polarity before commissioning.
The output power supply (supply of the outputs) may not
have the polarity reversed. External protection is recom-
mended.
Chapter 4
The following sections contain a brief introduction into the use of the IPC FEC-Standard
You require:
Check and ensure that the cable is wired with the correct po-
larity. Also check whether the function selector switch is set to
Position 0 and correct it if necessary.
Now switch on the power supply for test purposes. The Power
LED has to light up.
Caution
Before carrying out the further wiring separate the power
supply again from the IPC FEC-Standard.

The wiring of solid wires is carried out in the same way as the
mounting of wires with wire end ferrules. These can be
introduced into the corresponding tension spring terminals of
the PS1 SAC connector.
If you use flexible wires without wire end ferrules, the button
which is assigned clearly by color to the tension spring ter-
minal has to be pressed down by means of a suitable tool
(screwdriver). The cable can be introduced while it is pressed
down.

If the power supply connector is used as a distribution
strip, the maximum current carrying capacity of the various
connectors available is to be observed.
A digital output group may be subjected to a maximum
total current of 3.2 A (8 x 0.4 A).

The FEC has a Run LED which can light in the colors green, red
and orange. Each color indicates an operating state of the
FEC.
If the Run/Stop switch is set to Stop (0), the LED light orange.
If the Run/Stop switch is switched to RUN (1-15) and there is
a project on the system, the project is started and the LED
lights up green. If the Run/Stop switch is set to RUN (1-15)
and there is no project on the system, there is a fault and the
LED lights up red. In the Run state the LED indicates an error
with red.
