ELECTRICAL SYSTEM DESIGN LOAD SCHEDULE (Optional Calculation)

The dwelling has a floor area of 185 square meters. It has typical household appliances
including two electrical ranges (4kW and 5kW), one 2-Hp, two 1-Hp air conditioning units, one
1-Hp water pump and one water heater (3.5kW).

Air Conditioning Loads:

Two 2-Hp master bedroom air-conditioning unit
12A x 230V x 2 = 5520 VA
Two 1-Hp room air-conditioning unit
8A x 230V x 2 = 3680 VA
Subtotal Load 9200 VA
Other Loads:
Lighting and Convenience Receptacle Load:
185 sq. m x 24 volt-amperes per sq. m = 4440 VA
Three units of small appliances load
1500 VA x 3 = 4500 VA
One unit of laundry
1500 VA x 1 = 1500 VA
One 5.5-kW electrical range
5500 VA x 1 = 5500 VA
One 5-kW Clothes Dryer
5000 VA x 1 = 5000 VA
One 1.5-Hp Booster Pump
10 A x 230 x 1 = 2300 VA
One 4-kW oven
4000 VA x 1 = 4000 VA
One 3.5-kW water heater
3500 VA x 1 = 3500 VA
Total net computed 30740 VA

Application of Demand Factor:

First 10000 VA @100% demand factor
10000 VA x 1.0 D.F = 10000 VA

Remaining load @40% demand factor

30740 VA – 10000 VA = 20740 VA
20740 VA x 0.40 D.F = 8296 VA
Subtotal D.F 18296 VA
Total loads:
Air Conditioning Loads = 9200 VA
Other Loads = 18296 VA
6|Page
Total net computed 27496 VA
Circuit Requirement:
Use ten 15-ampere 2-wire branch circuits and one 20-ampere 2-wire branch circuit.
Service entrance conductor:
Total full load current
27496 VA / 230 V = 120 Amperes
Use 2-38 sq. mm THHN wire and use 14 sq. mm equipment grounding.
Service equipment:
Inverse time circuit breaker
[(27496 VA) + (2760 VA x 1.5)] / 230 V = 138 Amperes
Use one 150-ampere trip, Single-phase MCCB circuit breaker
