Issues in The Design and Implementation of Research

Practical issues in design and implementation of psychological research include choosing between qualitative or quantitative data collection methods. Research design must consider validity and ethics. One significant challenge is demand characteristics, where participants may not display natural behavior if aware of the research aims.

Issue: Practical issues in design and implementation of psychological research

Research methodology is a large and varied field, with the many research questions requiring both
differing methods and design decisions. There are practical issues to be considered when doing
research in psychology.
These can range from whether to choose qualitative or quantitative data, to whether experiments
lack the validity sufficient to make them worthwhile (or to be justified in ethical terms).
There are many issues concerning the design and implementation of obedience research, often
creating the ethical problems inherent in such research.
One significant practical issue in obedience research is demand characteristics. If participants are
aware of the aims of research, they are unlikely to display natural behaviour.
