PREFACE
Theoretical study combined with practical knowledge makes the learning meaningful and unable
the individual to develop self-confidence because theoretical knowledge is always incomplete
without its practical implication like “GUN WITHOUT BULLET” seeing the necessity that the
student could know and take opportunity for practical exposures of business world.
As a part of course curriculum, summer training is compulsory for all student of BBM. It is true
that work experience in an organization of repute adds an extensive knowledge and exposure to
individual.
During the training period the student learn through their own experience the real situation of
corporate world and put his theoretical knowledge into practice. This experience is valuable for
the student and plays a leading role in his carrier.
The starting days of training were difficult but I was full of enthusiasm and joy and had the spirit
to excel. Those days of beginning was devoted to simply understand the product i.e. DEMAT,
coordinating with the office and later on with the team. Slowly and steadily, as I started learning
about the market I realized that it was not as easy task to do something commendable. Yet, I was
determined to achieve my objective.
The overall experience, exposure, knowledge and team work were a great satisfaction for me.

INTRODUCTION
Trading in shares of company is compulsory in dematerialized form for all investors. The
company has, therefore enlisted its shares with both the depositories viz. NSDL & CDSL. This
means that we have now the option to hold and trade in share of company in Electronic form.
“DEMAT is a process by which physical share certificate of an investor are taken back by
company and equivalent number of securities are credited in electronic form at request of
investor.” This is very similar to opening Bank a/c.
It is optional and an investor can still hold shares in physical form. However, he/she has to
DEMAT the shares if he/she wishes to sell the same through stock exchanges.

Ajay Singhania (2009), executive director of Kodak securities reviewed that from past few
months; stock broking firms are fresh at their expansion plans. Until January 2010, they are
expanding on all three fronts-online, branches and sub –broker route.1
Mr. Kannan (2008), branch manager, Share khan Ltd. Concluded DEMAT is growing at
increasing rate due to advancement in technology and knowledge. It is one of the easiest ways to
hold large amount of stock. But though it is complex to understand. 2
Kartik Goyal and Subramanian Sharma (2010) analyzed that without enlisting the support of
the broking community, it can’t ensure the response it wants for its share sale.3
