    AGENDA: HEROES- 6th grade
    • Ice breaker - who is your role model or who do you look up
    to?
    • Background - Stan Lee
    • Background – Historical Heroes
    • Studio demonstration
    • Studio time
     Introduction of the big idea, Heroes by
    demonstrating the diversity of the term
    itself.
    Lesson  Showing various examples of fictional
    overview and non-fictional forms of a hero.
     Creating of a face mask using the big
    idea of Heroes
     A hero could be anything or anyone an
    individual looks up to or draws
    inspiration from.
     Heroes are important.

    Key Conceots  Heroes make an impact on individual’s


    life.
     Heroes can come from the past, present
    or the future.
     Heroes - a person who is admired or idealized for
    courage, outstanding achievements, or noble
    qualities.
     Mask - a covering for all or part of the face, worn
    as a disguise, ot to amuse or terrify other people.
     Leadership - the action of leading a group of
    people or an organization

    Vocab..  Courage - the ability to do something that


    frightens
     Vigilante - a member of a self-appointed group of
    citizens who undertake law enforcement in their
    community without legal authority, typically
    because the legal agencies are thought to be
    inadequate

     Prior to this heroes were idealistically perfect.
     No flaws, but retained humanity despite this.
     Stan Lee introduced a new type of hero.
     In the 1950's Stan Lee and Jack Kirby created the
    fantastic four.

    Stan Lee
     Naturalistic heroes are you and me. Every
    day people, who gained a power.
     Introduced flawed characters. Selfish,
    Naturalistic hero self-centered intelligences, narcissist,
    long lasting problems.
     Powers don't fix the life's problems
    anymore.

    In Greek and Roman mythology, a

    woman who demonstrate remarkable bravery.

    he could change the world with non-

     -create a mask that represent a hero to the
    artist.

     Choose a mask type


     Trace the mask onto the paper and cut out
    Studio Mask  Grab paint, feathers, glitter, makers, to
    decorate the mask.
     Leave space at the sides for string to be
    attached.
     Create a background story for the artist
    hero to accompany the mask (fictional or
    historical).
     explore their understanding in studio by
    the creation of the masks which the
    history for it will be represented by
    having the artists come up with a
    background story for their hero and why
    TSW... they became/ are a hero (fictional or real
    history).
