Reflections 4

The majority of students in the Kindergarten 2 class are in the stage of writing individual letters, where they can write letters clearly using different materials like rocks, sticky balls, and play-dough. To help students at this stage, the teacher can use tracing strategies where students trace dotted letters, as well as use technology like a smart board or iPad apps to make writing more engaging through colors and interactivity.

Reflections on Observation Task 4: Development of

Early Writing Skills

1. What are developmental writing stages the majority of the students in?

My Kindergarten 2 students are in the third stage, which is sting of letters. They are able to

write the letters in clear way. Also, they use different materials to form the letters. Such as,

rocks, sticky balls and play-dough.

2. Describe and explain two (2) suggested strategies that the teacher can use to help the
majority of the students within their developmental writing stage.

I suggest that the teacher use the tracing strategy to help the students to write the letter

in the right way and the write directions by tracing the dots. Also, I suggest using the

technology to teach the students the writing. For example, the smart board or the iPad

apps. Using technology helps a lot in developing their writing skills because they find it

interesting and also the colors in the apps grabs their attention instead of writing on the

white board.
