Scope: This procedure explains the Emergency activities to be performed at the time of Station
Shutdown.

Responsibility: TG / Boiler Operator, Electrician, Field Engineer, Desk Engineer, Shift In

charge.
Guide line:-
 All work permit should be cancelled.
 Ensure Power supply should be normal.
 Clearance should be available from Other department.
 Before taking in Operation Ensure equipment healthiness should be
available.

Procedure:

CHECK AND ENSURE:

I. Immediate checks:
 TG and boiler have tripped and generator-transformer and field circuit breakers have
opened.
 DC AOP, DC JOP and DC SCANNER air fans are running.
 APH Air motor running.
 ii. Further checks
 220V, 24V and UPS batteries are healthy.
 At 540 rpm DCJOP has cut in. Turning gear has cut in at 210 rpm.
 LPH 2&3, HPH 5 Deareator NRVs are shut.
 Lube oil is not draining out from centrifuge.
 All emergency DC/AC illuminations have cut in.
 ACTIONS
 Immediate actions:
 Isolate gland steam system steam & water valves.
 The DG Should start in Auto ( Note : Both of the Selector switches at DG Panel and at
CCR has to be in Remote Mode ) ,

** IF THE DG is not started when Both Selector Switches are in REMOTE, then (i) we have
to start it from CCR by taking CCR selector switch in Manual mode OR (ii) we can start it from
DG Panel by keeping Local Selector Switch in Manual Mode

Important: The DG will not start when Both Selector Switches are in Manual Mode.

 Charge EMBus-1&2 from DGDB after ensuring EMB incomer circuit breaker (from UAB)
are open.
 Break vacuum through vacuum breaker valve manually if possible.

 Run AC AOP, JOP. Stop DC AOP, JOP. Put DC pumps on AUTO and APH main motor to be
start.
 Start AC Scanner air fan & OVEF.
 CRH pot drains to be open. HRH drain to condenser and CRH 101 is to be closed manually.
 HP 5&6 drip to condenser to be isolated manually.
 Run LOP of the BFP, which was running at the time of shutdown.
 Close boiler blow down valve manually.
 Shut HP 6 Ex. Motorized valve manually.
 Note down all alarms & relay operations.
 Get in touch with Elect. And C&I dept. for immediate restoration of start up power.
ACTION PRIOR TO RESTORATION OF THE SYSTEM:
 Check & ensure all motor feeder circuit breakers have tripped.
 Close STD/BY BFP DMCW supply valve.
 Remove STD/BY selection of BFP, CEP, and ACW & DMCW Pp. Also
remove STD/BY & auto selection of other small drives-e.g LOPs OF FD,
PA and MILL etc.

CHECKS WHILE WAITING FOR START UP POWER:

1. Monitor DC battery voltages closely.
2. Monitor the DG closely (including oil tank level).
3. Monitor TG differential expansion, vibration etc.
4. Monitor all running equipment’s parameter.
5. Monitor RH pressure.

ACTIVITY FOR NORMALIZATION:

 Charge UB through SB, after checking that SB has been powered up through ST.
 Air Compressors are running.
 CW, ACW, DMCW and DMCW booster pump are running.
 Charge EMB from NORMAL source after starting all DC drives.
 Switch over all DC drives to AC drives again.
 Ensure M/C drains are open.
 Then follow normal start up procedure.

SWITCHGEAR OPERATION DURING BLACKOUT

 Ensure DG set has picked up, close DG incomer breaker if

Not closed.
 Close incomer breaker from DG PCC on emergency MCC,
