ACTIVITIES FOR STUDENTS


WEEK TWO

1. Use the internet or company documents and do a checklist on ten companies on the
frequency of components of mission statements

2. Use the internet or company documents and do a checklist on the core values of any ten
companies of your choice

3. Review newspaper reports/articles for the last three months on the following issues:
- corporate social responsibilities
- corporate scandals or fraud

Required:
Based on the review present a report indicating the following:
a. source of the document reviewed including the date, name and page where necessary
b. facts of the cases reported in the newspapers/articles reviewed
c. outcome of the cases

4. Examine how value chain analysis can be applied to a university.

5. Review four year (2013-2016) reports of listed companies on directors’ emoluments and
dividend payments. The review must be done each year showing how much goes into
directors’ emoluments and how much is also paid as dividend to shareholders describing
any pattern or tend following the review.

6. Take a strategic plan of any company you are familiar with and critique the section of the
plan that covers internal and external analysis.
