Autocad Plant 3D - Purging Plant 3D Local Data Cache Purging

Purging the local data cache in AutoCAD Plant 3D can resolve issues like missing grips by clearing unused or corrupted data. This involves closing Plant 3D, running the PnPLocalDataCachePurger executable found in the Plant 3D folder, and then opening Plant 3D to audit the project rather than using the recover command if errors are present.

AutoCAD Plant 3D – Purging Plant 3D Local Data Cache Purging

If AutoCAD Plant 3D is behaving unusually ie Missing Grips etc try and run a ‘Local Data Cache Purge’

Steps

1. Close down AutoCAD Plant 3D

2. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2016\PLNT3D:

3. Search for and run the executable, PnPLocalDataCachePurger.exe:

4. Run AutoCAD Plant 3D and right-click project name and run an Audit:

In the case where Plant 3D drawing files contain errors do NOT run a ‘recover’ command as this may
remove the intelligence on some of the Plant 3D objects. Instead follow Step 4 and Audit the Project.
