Stewardship and Development Thoughts from Judy Held
President, Catholic Foundation of Eastern Montana
Stewardship Thought: “Children, let us love not in word or speech but in deed and truth.” – 1 JOHN
3:18
Regarding our Catholic faith, do you “walk the talk?” Do your actions reflect what it means to be a good
disciple? Are you an active participant at Sunday Mass? Are you joyful when participating in parish
ministry? Do you give gratefully and generously with your financial support to your parish and other
Church needs? If not, it’s not too late to start!
Tentative Settlement for the Lawsuits Announced!
You may have seen articles that the diocese has come to a tentative settlement to resolve the abuse lawsuits
and Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The great news is that it's true! Although it is not set in stone, it does allow us
to see a potential end to this difficult time. This settlement allows us to finally make some reparation for
the horrible acts committed against children in the past, and resolve to never allow it to happen again.
We know, however, that it won't be over, even when the settlement is approved. There will be some pain on
the part of each parish in contributing to this settlement. Please read the enclosed press release to better
understand what this settlement means, and the bishop will release a letter next week giving even more
information. That letter will also be published in the bulletin.

2018 Care and Share Annual Catholic Appeal
If you have already given to the 2018 Care and Share Annual Catholic
Appeal, thank you! If you are still praying about your gift this year or just
haven’t yet returned your gift to our parish, please know that the support of every Catholic household is
important and needed. No gift is too large or too small! The outcome of our support determines the
amount of ministry that our Church can offer each year to help parishes and Catholics throughout our very
large diocese. It takes funding to build and grow our Catholic Church, not just to maintain it. There is no
better investment than in our Lord! Your gift will help our parish meet our goal for 2018. Thank you very
much for your support of Care and Share!
Pope’s Universal Intention
