Task 1a: Obtaining and communicating information

Objectives:

Student teachers will introduce and familiarize themselves with the location of the school
and classroom environment, provide the MST with an overview of the placement, and
discuss specific tasks for the near future. They will also focus on establishing positive
working relationships in the classroom under the direction of the MST.

Tasks:

 Obtain your MST’s mobile number (you need it in case of an emergency)


 Discuss the TP requirements with your MST
 Agree on a regular time that you and your MST can meet, every week, to discuss
and review tasks and pertinent issues
 Complete the School Profile -- refer to pages 8-9
 Map the indoor learning environment (the classroom) – refer to page 10
 Obtain a class list and your MST’s teaching schedule
 Obtain school information including: a school brochure, a school calendar, as well
as termly and weekly planning sheets.

√ In the first three days of TP, I did the following:

- how many times I have to teach (and what I must teach)
- how many times I must be formally observed by my MST (teacher
mentor)
- how many times I will be formally observed by my MCT (college mentor)

ok d) I obtained planning information (weekly planning, term planning etc.)

ok e) I obtained school information (school phone number, school calendar,


etc.)
