1.3 Scheduling
This procedure must be performed when operation with a PowerBoost preset is desired. The
transmitter can remain “on air” during this procedure.
NOTE
It is recommended that a user configuring an HD PowerBoost preset be familiar with the
transmitter’s AUI. As necessary, refer to “Section 2: Operating the Transmitter” of the NV
Operations and Maintenance Manual for detailed information on the AUI and its Presets
page.
In order to enable HD PowerBoost, you must use the AUI’s Presets page to either load an
existing PowerBoost preset or create a new PowerBoost preset. For general details on
loading, editing and activating a preset, refer to the “Editing and Saving Presets” paragraph
under “Operating Presets” in Section 2 of the NV Operations and Maintenance Manual. For
specific detail on creating HD PowerBoost presets, follow the naming convention described
below:
For PowerBoost presets, the name must begin with the characters ‘PB’ (not case sensitive),
followed by one or two numbers that indicate the IBOC power injection ratio levels, and finally
the characters ‘dBc’. See Figure 1 for examples of this naming convention.
Injection ratios, which can be expressed in 0.1 dB increments, represent the nominal
symmetric MP1 level. If only one number appears in the preset name, a symmetric mode is
selected. If two numbers appear in the preset name, the first number is applied to the lower
sideband and the second number to the upper sideband. The two numbers can be separated
via spaces or slashes. The ‘–‘ sign is optional.
The preset injection field (see Figure 2) is ignored in PowerBoost mode; it should be set to
-20 dB at all times.
