“Punjab Police Digital FIR System (PPDFIRS)” is a Desktop Application made in Java
langauge consisting of various modules and features to overcome the current problems
faced by the police department of filing FIR’s, keeping track of records, changing the
records, etc. which are currently done with Pen And Paper. Now this can be done with
this Java application without much effort in maintaining them.
The main basic modules which form the base of PPDFIRS are:-
Login Module.
Menu Module.
Senior Citizen Registration Module.
Senior Citizen Record Search Module.
Rape Case Report Module.
Road Accident Registration Module.
Road Accident Record Search Module.
Missing Person Module.
Lost Item Module.
Found Item Module.
PPDFIRS can only be accessed with admin ID and Password and there is no other way to
access it. That ensures security as well as responsibility of the admin over all the actions.
The admin can fill First Information Report (FIR) after he’s logged in to Home Screen.
It uses JDK for its Front-end framework and MySQL as its database at Back-end.
Once logged in, adding the records is much easier since there are predefined frames for
every report and registration. The admin just need to fill the columns and click submit
and it’s done. Some record module may also give you the FIR number related to that
record.

Viewing and analyzing the records is most crucial task and also the most time consuming
too. But with this desktop application, viewing and searching the records becomes very
easy. And with the feature of sorting the records saves a lot of time and that cannot be
done easily with the registers etc.
Since every module is accessed from Home Screen, it becomes a lot easier to do all the
tasks from just one place. All the modules are self-describing and the person using the
app for the first time can easily access the app without requiring much training or
experience in the field of computer science.
