Feedback2 - Ayesha - Maths Lesson - Review - Addition Shapes

Ayesha taught a grade 1 lesson on addition and shapes. The lesson included a powerpoint, worksheets, and an addition game. Students were engaged and completed the tasks. However, the feedback noted she could have focused on fewer concepts to spend more time checking all students' understanding. The feedback also suggested being more firm with behavior management and leaving time at the end to review what was learned.

Critical Reflection
Strengths of the lesson:
Ayesha planned her lesson well with a powerpoint presentation, worksheets and an
addition game. She was able to get students to interact in the lesson and complete the
tasks set. Students were enthusiastic to take part in the lesson.
Great job encouraging the higher groups to complete the tasks timeously. Students were
eager to impress by finishing as many worksheets as possible.
Areas for development:
Although it was a review lesson, fewer aspects could have been selected so more time
would have been spent to check the competency of all students. Focus more on the
weaker groups and explain to them again once you have given the work for all students
to complete. This will help you determine whether the students fully understand what
needs to be done.
Be more firm with students to control their behavior. You can reward only good
behavior. Try to make time before the lesson ends to review what students learnt in the
lesson.
