What Can You Do With The THR Editor?

The THR Editor is a software application that lets you freely edit settings for Yamaha’s THR10 or
THR5 amplifier on the computer screen, and create patch files. In addition to the main controls on the
THR10/5, it is possible to adjust each of the following settings.
[THR10] • Compressor settings
• Noise Gate settings
• Speaker Cabinet setting
• Two additional Reverb settings (Room, Plate)
• Manage (import/export) patches in a library (100 patches)
• Extended Stereo ON/OFF
• Power Lamp ON/OFF
[THR5] In addition to the settings listed above, the following settings are also available.
• Sound quality can be adjusted like on the THR10 using the editor’s three tone controls,
BASS/MIDDLE/TREBLE.
• Set the volume level for audio input from the USB port using the five level setting.

The THR Editor provides greater sound tailoring than what is available on the unit itself.

Connection Status

• Information for changes made with the THR Editor is sent in real-time to the THR10/5 through the USB cable.
Likewise, changes made with the THR10/5 control knobs are reflected in the THR Editor window.
• “CONNECTED” appears in the bottom right corner of the THR Editor window when the THR10/5 is connected
and recognized by the THR Editor. If “DISCONNECTED” appears here, the THR10/5 is not recognized. Please
check your USB cable or port settings.
• When the THR10/5 tuner function is switched ON, the USB connection is temporarily disengaged (DISCONNECT
appears). When the tuner function is switched ON, the connection is automatically restored.
• Each control knob can be adjusted by moving the cursor while clicking the knob on the display. You can also
click on a value field and enter a value. Depending upon the particular setting, you can also click at the position
you the knob set to, to change the knob setting. (g)

• Click the switch on the display to switch ON/OFF (ON lights). To select multiple items, click the switch and
select the desired setting from the list that appears.
• If the patch or file is switched, or the THR Editor quits after changing a parameter, the following message
appears to confirm whether you want to save the patch or not. If you continue using the editor without saving, the
current changes will be lost. Carry out the Save operation if necessary.

for that patch.
The library can be saved as a library file on your computer. A single patch from the library can also
be saved as a patch file on your computer. Patch files can be imported into the library for use.

Troubleshooting

If you experience problems such as “no sound” or “abnormal operation”, first make sure that the
THR10/5 is properly connected to the computer. If the problem persists, please check the following
items.

No sound from the instrument

• Is the THR10/5 Tuner function switched ON? Turn the Tuner function OFF.
• Is the THR Editor Compressor Output setting set to 0.0?

Level changes are not reflected in the THR Editor when the control knobs on the
THR10/5 are moved
• Is the THR10/5 Tuner function switched ON? Turn the Tuner function OFF.

Cannot import the patch made on the THR10

• The THR Editor will not import patches with the amp type set to ACO, BASS, or FLAT while the
THR5 is connected.

(THR5) Playback volume of audio from a computer connected to the USB jack is too
low/high
• Use the “USB VOLUME” menu in the THR Editor to adjust the volume level.

DISCONNECT is displayed, or the device does not work properly

• Check the port settings in the preferences. (g page 7, Installation Guide: separate PDF)
• Make sure that the Yamaha Steinberg USB driver is properly installed. (g THR10/5 Owner’s
Manual, page 14 “Driver Installation”)
