I. Objective of Experiment
1. Students conduct experiment to determine the constants of water calorimeter.
When you put ice cube into glass of hot tea, the tea will be cooler.
Why the mixing temperature is between temperature of ice and hot tea?
In order to understanding about that, you must do this experiment. Before that,
you must formulate the problem to solve in this experiment.
Write the problem below!

IV. Hypothesis
After you formulated a problem, then determine the hypothesis. Write your
hypothesis below!

5. Measure temperature of hot water (T2) _images/kalorimeter.gif
6. Put hot water into water in calorimeter
7. Stir slowly then observe an increase in water temperature (system), until
reached equilibrium at the final temperature (mixing temperature). (Tm)
8. Take data in the table
9. Repeat this experiment with a variation temperature of hot water (less and
more than ever, for the same volume and the same water temperature
in calorimeter).
84
VII. Data Collecting
A. Data
Write your data in this table!
Mass of water in
Mass of hot water
calorimeter
T1 (0C) T2 (0C) Tm (0C)
Volume mass (g) Volume mass (g)
(ml) xV (ml) xV
water = 1 g/cm3
B. Graph
From the data obtained and listed in the table, now create a graph that gives
the relationship between temperature of hot water (T2) and the constants of
water calorimeter (H).

2. How based on experimental results, analyze to determine the constant of water
calorimeter using the principle of black

IX. Application
- If you buy ice cube but don’t have freezer, you can save that at ice
thermos. Ice thermos can keep in order to temperature of ice not influenced
by temperature of area. Since temperatures of area is…….. than
temperature of ice, so ice can melt.
X. Conclusion
From the data in graph, we can explain about the constants of water calorimeter.
Make conclusions from the results of experiments you have done, and write down
below!
