1. Create a new empty folder for the DVD image on your Desktop, and title it “MatLab”.
**
If you are installing Matlab on a Mac, download the “.iso” file, as Macs can mount and
install an “.iso” file without PowerISO.
**
The next step is only necessary if you download the “.iso” file and are using Windows,
which should be your choice. (You may use the previous year’s version, which is an
“.exe” file if the “.iso” does not work.

2. Download and install PowerISO. PowerISO an ISO file mounting program that will be
used to mount the ISO image. PowerISO can be downloaded at http://poweriso.com
This software will be used during “Step 3: Install and activate Matlab”

Brief Summary
Assuming you have done the steps above, here are the rest of the installation
procedures (Brief descriptions, with more in-depth instructions below).
- This step lets you to create logon credentials to MathWorks using your Drexel email
address.

Step 1: Create an account by going to MathWorks website
. 1.1. Go to http://www.mathworks.com
. 1.2. Click on Create Account, which is at the top-right corner of the page.
. 1.3. In the Email and Password Information section, type your Drexel email address
for the E-mail field. It is very important that the email address has ‘@drexel.edu’
after your username. *The password does not need to be identical as your
Drexel account.
1.5. Fill in the rest of the settings where appropriate. Follow the rest of the steps to
create the MathWorks account.

Step 2: Associate TAH Student license to your MathWorks account
. 2.1. Now, logon to MathWorks site using the account you just created.
. 2.2. Click on “My Account”, which is at the top-right corner of the page. Doing so will
take you to a page that looks like this:
2.3 Next, click “Manage Licenses” on the left hand side. Once done, you will be directed
to this page.

2.4 Select the “Add License” and choose “Activation Key”.
Once the license is associated, you’ll receive a message saying that the license has been
associated. Click “Done” to continue.
2.6. Now that the license has been associated, click on Logout to go to the next step.

Step 3: Install and activate Matlab
Click the “MatLab2012a.iso” file to begin the download. The file is between 2 and 4 Gigs,
so connecting your laptop using an Ethernet cable is recommended; if you want to
speed up download time. Downloading over Wi-Fi still works, but will take more time.

If the “.iso” file cannot be downloaded, the “.exe” file from the previous year can be
extracted and run on a Windows desktop without a third party program. Extract the
“.exe” file to the “MatLab” folder on the desktop.

3. Once PowerISO is downloaded and installed, and the Matlab.ISO file is downloaded,
double click the “.iso” file and it will automatically open in PowerISO.
4. Highlight every file displayed in PowerISO by selecting one and then pressing “Ctrl+A”.
Once every file under the MatLab.iso file is highlighted, select “Extract”. Browse and
extract to the “MatLab” folder on the Desktop.
5. Once completed, go to the “MatLab” folder and open the “Setup” file, and installation
process will begin.

Once extracted, both folders should look similar this:
*Both .iso and .exe file downloads follow the same steps from here on out.*
3.1. Double click the “setup” icon to start the installer.
3.2.Choose Insta
using the Internet (recommended). Select Next.

3.3. Accept the license agreement. Select Next.
3.4. Login to MathWorks account with the credentials you created in step 1. Again, the
email address must be your [email protected]. Select Next.

3.5. Your TAH Student license should be chosen as the default license. If not, choose the
one that has the license number 356754.
** When asked if you would like to search for updates, select NO**
3.7. Choose the installation folder (the default folder works fine). **You will most likely
be notified that the folder does not yet exist, and will be asked if you would like to
create the folder. Choose “Yes”.**

3.8. Confirm the settings. Select Install.
3.9. Once the installation is complete, you need to activate the copy of your Matlab.

3.11. Type the user name you use to log on to Windows.
N ote that this is N O T
necessarily your Drexel user name or the MathWorks account.
3.13. Once the activation is complete, select “Start MATLAB” and “Finish”.
