These are the corrections and additional information in Environment and Government Schemes Module.

Environment Module
1. White Tiger (page 25)
 In 2016, world’s first White Tiger Sanctuary was inaugurated at Mukundpur, Madhya Pradesh and
not in Bandhavgarh.

2. One-Horned Rhinos (page 26)


 Jaldapara National Park is in West Bengal and not in Assam.

Government Schemes
1. Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (page 9)
 The programme is implemented under Ministry of Human Resource Development and not under
Ministry of Culture.

2. Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) (page 10)


 The maternity benefits under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) are available to all
Pregnant Women & Lactating Mothers (PW&LM) except those in regular employment with the
Central Government or State Government or Public Sector Undertaking or those who are in receipt
of similar benefits under any law for the time being in force, for first living child of the family.
 The objectives of the scheme are:
o Providing partial compensation for the wage loss in terms of cash incentives for the first
living child; and
o The cash incentives provided would lead to improved health seeking behaviour amongst
the Pregnant Women and Lactating Mothers.
 Benefits:
o Cash incentive of Rs 5000 in three instalments:
 First instalment of Rs 1000/ - on early registration of pregnancy,
 Second instalment of Rs 2000/ - after six months of pregnancy on receiving at least
one ante-natal check-up (ANC) and
 Third instalment of Rs 2000/ - after child birth is registered and the child has
received the first cycle of BCG, OPV, DPT and Hepatitis - B, or its equivalent/
substitute.
o The eligible beneficiaries would receive the incentive given under the Janani Suraksha
Yojana (JSY) for Institutional delivery and the incentive received under JSY would be
accounted towards maternity benefits so that on an average a woman gets Rs 6000.
 Case of Miscarriage/Still Birth :
o In case of miscarriage/still birth, the beneficiary would be eligible to claim the remaining
instalment(s) in event of any future pregnancy.
o Thus, after receiving the 1st instalment, if the beneficiary has a miscarriage, she would only
be eligible for receiving 2nd and 3rd instalment in event of future pregnancy subject to
fulfilment of eligibility criterion and conditionalities of the scheme.
o Similarly, if the beneficiary has a miscarriage or still birth after receiving 1 st and 2nd
instalments, she would only be eligible for receiving 3rd instalment in event of future
pregnancy subject to fulfilment of eligibility criterion and conditionalities of the scheme.

o Case of Infant Mortality: In case of infant mortality, she will not be eligible for claiming
benefits under the scheme, if she has already received all the instalments of the maternity
benefit under PMMVY earlier.
o Pregnant and Lactating AWWs/ AWHs/ ASHA may also avail the benefits under the PMMVY
subject to fulfilment of scheme conditionalities.

3. She-Box (page 11)


 SHe-Box is an online complaint management system for registering complaints related to sexual
harassment at workplace.
 Any woman working in any office of Central Government / State Government / Private
organisation can file complaint related to sexual harassment at workplace through this SHe-Box.

4. Integrated Child Development Service (ICDS) (page 12)


 Objectives:
o To improve the nutritional and health status of children in the age-group 0-6 years;
o To lay the foundation for proper psychological, physical and social development of the
child;
o To reduce the incidence of mortality, morbidity, malnutrition and school dropout;
o To achieve effective co-ordination of policy and implementation amongst the various
departments to promote child development; and
o To enhance the capability of the mother to look after the normal health and nutritional
needs of the child through proper nutrition and health education.
 Beneficiaries:
o Children in the age group of 0-6 years
o Pregnant women and
o Lactating mothers
 The ICDS Scheme offers a package of six services, viz.
o Supplementary Nutrition
o Pre-school non-formal education
o Nutrition & health education
o Immunization
o Health check-up and
o Referral services
 Immunization, health check-up and referral services are provided through National Health Mission
and Public Health Infrastructure at Anganwadi Centres.

5. Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana (SAUBHAGYA) (page 33)
 Under the scheme, government will provide free electricity connection to all households identified
under Socio-Economic and Caste Census (SECC) data 2011, while others will be charged 500 Rs.

6. National Nutrition Mission (NNM) (page 14)


 NNM targets to reduce stunting, under-nutrition, anemia (among young children, women and
adolescent girls) and reduce low birth weight by 2%, 2%, 3% and 2% per annum respectively.
 Although the target to reduce Stunting is at least 2% p.a., Mission would strive to achieve reduction
in Stunting from 38.4% (NFHS-4) to 25% by 2022 (Mission 25 by 2022).
 All the States and districts will be covered in a phased manner.
 Involving masses through Jan Andolan for their participation on nutrition through various activities.

7. LaQshya – Labour Room Quality Improvement Initiative (page 25)


 The Program aims at implementing ‘fast-track’ interventions for achieving tangible results within 18
months.
 A multi-pronged strategy has been adopted such as improving infrastructure up-gradation, ensuring
availability of essential equipment, providing adequate human resources, capacity building of
health care workers and improving quality processes in the labour room.
 The Quality Improvement in labour room and maternity OT will be assessed through NQAS
(National Quality Assurance Standards).
 Every facility achieving 70% score on NQAS will be certified as LaQshya certified facility.
 Facilities scoring more than 90%, 80% and 70% will be given Platinum, Gold and Silver badge
accordingly.
 Facilities achieving NQAS certification, defined quality indicators and 80% satisfied beneficiaries will
be provided incentive of Rs 6 lakh, Rs 3 lakh and Rs 2 lakh for Medical College Hospital, District
Hospital and FRUs respectively.
